by Fëanor |
Fëanor pours the entire internet into the Recyclotron, and only the best links come out the other end for you to enjoy.
- Not only did NPH host last night's Emmy's, he also broke into the broadcast as Dr. Horrible! See the video above.
- Another awesome entry from Animals With Lightsabers.
- Great Carrie poster.
- Looks like the designer 3D glasses that Jeffrey Katzenberg promised would be coming our way are indeed in the works.
- The way to really impress everyone on a classy night out: put on your Super Mario evening wear! (Via)
- Star Wars reviewed by a three-year-old. Extremely cute and funny, and surprisingly accurate!
- In an interview with People, Kermit the frog insists he is not in a relationship with Lady Gaga, despite having been seen kissing her at the MTV VMAs. (Via)
- Details about an upcoming remake of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
- A burglar stopped to check Facebook on his victim's computer, but forgot to log out. He might as well have left his name, address, and phone number with the police.
- Video of a pretty hilarious Half-Life 2 mod, wherein all the sound effects have been replaced by voice imitations.
- Some fun sketches Dave Perillo did at Pittsburgh Comicon.
- Pretty funny: stormtroopers discuss the terrorist attack on the Death Star while on break at a bar.
- "An autonomous fighter jet called a Reaper was shot down over Northern Afghanistan last weekend after it went AWOL and attempted to fly outside Afghan airspace." Umm... that's disturbing. Are you sure that thing wasn't made by Cyberdyne Systems? And isn't it maybe called a Hunter-Killer and not a Reaper?
- Doctor Doom tries a new career path: infomercial host.
- io9's 10 favorite moments of space madness from throughout science fiction, and io9's 7 favorite sci-fi bars.
- A collection of portraits of famous science fiction authors.
- A couple more positive reviews of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. I'm going to have to check this movie out.
- Disney is doing a computer-animated Rapunzel.
- Marc Toberoff, the lawyer who successfully sued DC Comics and Warner Brothers on behalf of Superman creator Jerry Siegel, has now brought a suit against Marvel and Disney on behalf of the estate of Jack Kirby. The estate is looking to regain its share of copyright in the characters Kirby created, and their use in comics and other media. On the one hand, I'd like to see Kirby get his due. But on the other hand, I'd also like to see more Marvel comics and movies about Kirby's characters! I hope a settlement can be reached quickly.
- A fun video collecting allusions to Tron from throughout popular culture.
- Okay, I've got to stop posting these soon, I know, but... here are a few more amusing sci-fi-related Kanye interruptions.
- A sequel to Street Fighter IV is on the way.
- Not only is table-flipping now a standard element of reality shows, it's also the central mechanic of a new Japanese arcade game.
- Toy Story ray gun controller!
- Creepy and cool Halloween food creations.
- A group of MIT students managed to Rickroll the entire campus. They added the first seven notes of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" to the campus' iconic Great Dome. (Via)
- The characters of Masters of the Universe go clubbing. (Via)
- Famous folks wearing the three wolf moon T-shirt!
- Cute Marvel merchandise.
- A Prius with 8-bit flames on the side.
- I can say from personal experience with my Dad's awesome Kitt-like new car that electric vehicles are remarkably silent. Too silent, some say. So Nissan consulted some music composers to add a custom engine sound to their electric cars, and they came up with a high-pitched sound reminiscent of the flying cars in Blade Runner. Awesome! (Via)
- Tim Burton interviews Ray Harryhausen.
- Video of a Left 4 Dead mod in which you must kill zombie Teletubbies. Hilarious and terrifying!
- Cinematical got its hands on some shots from the sets of The A-Team (it's the van!) and The Karate Kid.
- A rather interesting trailer for what looks like a pretty creepy and bloody film called Valhalla Rising. (Via)
- Heh. Gay scientists isolate Christian gene.
- In this goofy web comic, Jules Verne writes Edgar Allan Poe a fan letter. (Via)
