Another great episode title. And another extremely disturbing and effective opening scene, making clever use of cornfields, crows, and scarecrows to freak me out.
Olivia's getting out of the hospital, but is still not completely recovered. I like that the trauma she experienced is not going to be a "one-and-done" kind of thing. Also, Peter is my kind of people. He picks up a cane and immediately looks for the hidden ninja sword.
Ah! Evil Charlie! Why is he bothering to hang out menacingly in the background? Doesn't he know if he just walked up to Olivia he could hang out with her as much as he wants?
Okay, creepy thing crawling out of the dark tunnel to eat the guy? SCARY AS HELL.
Ha! Peter got the FBI to give him everything he wanted, including a big transport plane and new housing for him and his Dad. Impressive. It's almost like... getting your show renewed for another season!
Is Broyles getting scarier looking or is it just me? Seriously, the man's face is a skull of death.
Walter and Astrid are recreating Olivia's car accident with a toy police cruiser that has a real frog in the driver's seat. Crazy! Reminds me of one of Doc Brown's insanely complex models from the Back to the Future movies.
Aww, Walter really cares for Olivia. That was a sweet scene. Although the way he ended things by pointing out that traveling to an alternate universe has its consequences, but she'll probably be fine, wasn't exactly comforting.
Very weird moment: Olivia can suddenly hear a fly buzzing and walking around with perfect clarity. Is she developing super senses now??
How is Evil Charlie successfully keeping up the ruse that he's really Charlie? I mean, wouldn't he have to trick all kinds of people - including Charlie's wife? Wouldn't he have to do all of Charlie's work for him? Seems like someone would start to suspect him pretty quickly. Also, why does Evil Charlie look so unwell?
Cool! Time to use the magic mirror-enabled, trans-universal instant messaging typewriter again!
Peter: "How's it going, Walter?"
Walter: "I'm planning to urinate in 23 minutes."
I like that Peter is totally unconcerned that his father's hand is paralyzed.
So the monster is a mutant human male that can excrete paralyzing juice? Awesome!
Again, Olivia is able to hear something she shouldn't. This time it comes in handy. "There's someone else in this house."
Jesus! Olivia nearly shot Peter. Maybe she's not really ready to be back in the field yet? But Peter covers for her.
I suspect they're going to find this guy's blood has genetic similarities to the samples they've collected. I'm betting the creature is the son he says died, and he's keeping the kid hidden underground. Maybe he's even trying to keep him from eating people, but failing.
Nina Sharp shows up and gives Olivia the name of someone who can help her. "He's not a psychologist." I suspect he can help people who have traveled between universes!
A quick cameo from Agent Jessup. She focuses on the religious artifacts in the house. Hmm...
Peter: "That was Olivia. Agent Jessup told her Hughes may have killed his wife and child 17 years ago."
Walter: "Finally, some good news! I assume we can dig them up? I haven't had any bodies to examine!"
Man, even though I'm pretty sure this Hughes guy is to blame, I still feel bad for him for all the crap the Fringe team is putting him through. He doesn't seem like a bad guy, really. Oh, and there he goes killing himself. He really got creative fashioning himself a noose! Poor bastard.
I totally called it! I love the image of the little tunnel leading out of the baby's coffin. He's a genetically altered, part-scorpion, part-mole rat superbaby! I effing love this show.
You know, I told the sheriff to get in the car to escape the monster, but he didn't listen to me for some reason.
I love that the house has creepy hidden rooms. Good stuff.
Man, this episode is scary! Way to dive after Olivia, Peter!
That is one ugly monster.
Aww, Walter and Peter are going on a father/son fishing trip. That's sweet. Although I am a little disappointed that the Night of Desirable Objects turned out to be nothing more interesting than a fishing lure.
Olivia really has to figure out how to turn her super hearing on and off when she wants to, instead of having it turn on at random, and often really inconvenient, times.
The guy Nina gave Olivia the name of works at a bowling alley? That's unexpected. Will he give her trans-universe therapy via bowling?
Great episode!! Fringe might be my favorite show on TV now. I'm just loving all the crazy stuff going on, and all the great ideas. And being able to figure out the plot to this episode just made me like it more, not less. |
