by Fëanor |
Fëanor pours the entire internet into the Recyclotron, and only the best links come out the other end for you to enjoy.
- I am not at all interested in seeing 2012, but I truly love the trailer for the movie embedded above, which focuses entirely on the actors and includes no effects shots. (Via)
- Check out an extract of Daft Punk's theme for Tron: Legacy. (Via)
- I don't know about you, but I'm not yet tired of Facebook status update jokes. Here's a collection of comic book characters' Facebook status updates.
- We might have to start paying to watch certain shows on Hulu. Who can we thank for this? Comcast. Bastards. (Via)
- Weird Al covers Elvis Costello. And he doesn't even change the lyrics or anything. (Via)
- France is considering warning labels for airbrushed photos. Nice one! (Via)
- The snazzy new Doctor Who logo (via), and new pics from the set of the show.
- Archaeologists have discovered another prehistoric stone circle just a mile down the road from Stonehenge. It's a miniature version of Stonehenge that they're calling Bluehenge, after the color of the stones. Uh, except that there aren't any stones anymore. They've all been removed. D'oh. (Via)
- Escapism is something I love, but feel guilty about loving. io9 makes me feel less guilty with this fascinating essay in defense of escapism.
- This article will spoil the surprise celebrity cameo in Zombieland for you (whoops), but if you've already seen the movie or don't mind being spoiled, it's quite entertaining.
- More fun reimagined movie posters.
- 10 essential Superman comics. I agree wholeheartedly with Whatever Happened To The Man Of Tomorrow, Superman And The Legion Of Super-Heroes, Red Son, The Superman Chronicles Vol. 1, and especially the excellent All-Star Superman Vols. 1 & 2. The other picks I haven't read before; maybe I should check them out!
- Some intriguing videos and pics from The Vampire's Assistant, the film adaptation of the first of the Cirque du Freak novels. I'm not familiar with the books, but the movie looks pretty interesting, if occasionally also cheesy and cliche.
- A look at an old script of Joss Whedon's that was sort of a beta version of Dollhouse.
- Looks like the latest attempt to make a Voltron movie has fallen apart, but they're going to start again from scratch.
- The Batman on an elephant thing I posted yesterday, but the Ninja Turtle pizza party was new to me. Heh.
- A couple of fun T-shirt designs, one involving dinosaurs, and one about robots and aliens. So, all the geek food groups, pretty much!
- Excellent little art piece using an old computer case.
- A clever watch that writes the time on your flesh with lasers!
- Dreamcast controller as iPhone dock.
- Batman: Arkham Asylum started out as a rhythm action game??
- Super Punch just turned me on to the amazing art of Sam Bosma. Check out especially his Shadow Over Innsmouth illustrations. For more cool art found via Super Punch, check out some monsters and a god.
- Video of a classic physics experiment conducted on the moon.
- Ooh, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Transformers TV show, they're putting out a limited number of gift packs which include a DVD, a graphic novel, and the original, generation one, die cast metal version of Optimus Prime! You can win one over at Underwire; you better believe I entered.
- The incredibly disturbing trailer for the Crazies remake. Hey, look who stole that "Mad World" cover again!
- Every day this month, Horror Squad is highlighting a different cinematic "fate worse than death."
- A photo gallery of 9 enormous gadgets.
- A video on the making of swords for the Lord of the Rings movies.
- You can stream the Mountain Goats new album, The Life of the World to Come, in its entirety over at Colbert Nation. What I've heard so far is quite good!
- Infrared video of hundreds of thousands of bats flying out of Carlsbad Caverns.
- That's some Star Wars tattoo! Nothing naughty is actually pictured, but this is possibly NSFW anyway.
- A very unlikely, and surprisingly excellent, music team-up: Chistopher Cross, Michael McDonald, and The Roots.
