On the Viewer - Fringe (Season 2, Episode 4 - "Momentum Deferred")
 by Fëanor

We're starting things off right - with a frozen decapitated head!

Okay, what was with dude being so hard to kill?

Olivia enjoys a tasty worm shake.

Somebody's stealing heads!

Hard-to-kill guy is bleeding mercury. Is he an android? Ah, he's got one of those shape-shifter dealies. Don't let Charlie get his hands on that!

Finally an explanation for Charlie's poor health: he can't stay in one body for so long, and he can't use anybody else's converter because they're calibrated to each person specifically. He needs to go back and get a new converter.

They're looking for a specific head, apparently with a tattoo or birthmark on the back of the neck. Hmm...

Broyles: "Why are shape-shifting agents from another universe stealing frozen heads?"
Good question! Actually, that might be my favorite line of dialog from Fringe yet. Kind of sums up all the awesome insanity of the series in one sentence.

I was right, it is an android! Well, a mechano-organic hybrid.

Now they've finally found out the shape-shifter from before is still alive. But they still don't know who he/she is. It could be anybody! Paranoia!

Ugh! Charlie cracks mercury thermometers into a slurpee cup and gobbles it down. Nasty. But awesome.

Heh. Massive Dynamic's tech geek is coming onto Olivia.

Time to check in with the girl from the video - Rebecca. Did Walter have an affair with her? Regardless, she could be handy; she can see the shape-shifters and recognize them for what they are.

Aww, Peter covered for his Dad and said he was "traveling" instead of "in an insane asylum."

I love that the soundtrack to the psychedelics experiment is Yes. Great song!

Huh. Rebecca knows her way around the lab almost too well.

Olivia gets to watch the image of the shape-shifter slowly reveal itself on her phone. I love the drama and the tension!

Damn, I think Rebecca was about to reveal something about Peter before the drugs took hold.

Peter rings a bell as part of the experiment with Rebecca, but the sound instantly knocks Olivia down and pulls her back to her memory of William Bell. There was a bell ringing in her memory flashes, too. Was Bell doing a similar experiment with her?

Bell tells Olivia she's experiencing time slips because she's out of sync with this universe.

Bell says Olivia's just coming into her abilities. A war is coming, as he and Walter predicted. They needed a guardian to watch the gate - that's why they experimented with children. They were trying to grow a soldier. The shape-shifting hybrids are the first wave of an invasion.

Olivia: "You just yanked me into another universe to warn me about an inter-dimensional war that I believe you started."
Heh. Some of this dialog is pretty insane. But I'm okay with that.

Bell: "A storm is coming, perhaps the last and worst storm. The shape-shifters are looking for someone, someone to open the door between universes, and if they find him there will be no stopping them. You must find him first. You're the one, Olivia. Of all the children, you were always the strongest."

He shows her the symbol she's supposed to look for; it'll mark the leader. This must be the same symbol the hybrids were looking for on the heads.

Bell: "I pulled you out of a moving car. Momentum can be deferred, but it must always be paid back in full. As I always said to Walter, physics is a bitch."
She flew through a window in one universe - and out the windshield of the car in the other. Awesome! What a great scene. In a way, the best part is that we still can't tell if Bell is a good guy or a bad guy.

Nina: "I'm just about to leave for Hong Kong."
Olivia: "I have a message from William Bell."
Nina: "Cancel my plane."

Walter's trying to score with Rebecca!

Rebecca saw a glow coming off of Peter for a second. I knew it, he's from another universe!

Oh crap! Charlie knows they're rebuilding his image! He could do something crazy.

Bell is afraid when the door is opened between universes, one of them will be destroyed.

Yep, Charlie's made his movie: he claims Nina is the shape-shifter. It's only too easy to believe. Olivia tells Charlie what he wants to know just before she realizes he's the real shape-shifter. Oh damn! Very tense and exciting. Time for a showdown.

Brutal fight!

Walter gets to Rebecca's, but it turns out he didn't want to score with her - he wanted to apologize to her for experimenting on her. It's a pretty moving scene.

Did they find Charlie's body yet? Dude deserves to be properly buried. His wife might want to know he's dead, too. They should get on that!

It's a disaster! The hybrids have the head. It's the head of a hybrid which they've reconnected to its body and reactivated. Woah.

Very cool episode, focusing almost entirely on the overarching plot of the series. Pretty large revelations and developments! Exciting stuff.
