Recyclotron |
by Fëanor |
Fëanor pours the entire internet into the Recyclotron, and only the best links come out the other end for you to enjoy.
- Above is the incredibly cool trailer for Here Come the Waves, the "visualization" of The Decemberists' Hazards of Love. (Via)
- The 272 fast food items highest in calories. I'm happy to say that I'm pretty sure I've never eaten any of the items in the 1000+ calories range. Although I have eaten items in the 800-899 calories range. Gulp. (Via)
- Alien humor. (Via)
- Like a number of other programs, Dollhouse is making big gains in the ratings department thanks to the addition of DVR figures. (Via)
- 22 great sci-fi insults. (Via)
- 8 ways to prepare your pets for war. (Via)
- Check out the kick-ass cover art for the upcoming Planet Hulk DVD. (Via)
- Extremely long list of comic book-related personalities on Twitter. (Via)
- An interesting interview with Mike Mignola about the history and future of the Hellboyverse. (Via)
- Brian Michael Bendis talks about what's next for the Marvel Universe after Dark Reign. It's called Siege, and it will bring Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man back together again. (Via)
- Word has it the Where the Wild Things Are movie is upsetting some kids, but as you'll see in this excerpt from a recent interview, Maurice Sendak and the filmmakers don't really care so much. Here are five clips from the movie.
- The top 10 greatest space zomibes of all time.
- Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich have been ready and waiting to make a sequel to Independence Day, they've just been bogged down in negotiations with Fox and Will Smith. Here's hoping they remain bogged down! Ugh.
- Nanoparticles have incredible potential to advance medical technology and health, but of course the first drug developed to use them will treat erectile dysfunction. Sigh.
- A Lovecraft fan is crafting and assembling souvenirs from the ill-fated expedition in At the Mountains of Madness. Brilliant! Check out a gallery of the items here.
- A map of 50 years of space exploration. (Via)
- Dark Horse might do a Dollhouse comic book series.
- The trailer for Toy Story 3. This movie is going to murder me in my heart.
- Fun trailers and clips from Turbo (about a player in a futuristic, Tron-like video game fighting tournament) and a Mexican film about aliens and paranormal activity called Genesis.
- It's that time of year again! Metal Floss has 10 epic Halloween costumes. (Via)
- Very cool Mario bon-bons.
- Transformer pirate shirts.
- A mashup of a NES cartridge and a NES controller with which you can play NES ROMs. It's a hand-held NES!
- Apparently FlashForward is doing quite well; ABC has ordered 9 more episodes.
- This story about how they used to write Star Trek makes me sad. Then again, as long as they got smart people to fill in the blanks, it's not really that bad...
- Robert Rodat, the guy who wrote Saving Private Ryan, is working on the World of Warcraft movie. Wow (no pun intended)!
- The track list for LEGO Rock Band has been released.
- No, R2, no!
- Tekken 6 is bring back the beat-em-up campaign mode to fighting games. Neat.
- It recently came out that Gary Ross would rewrite and direct a screenplay about Venom, but now it looks like he'll be doing a movie about the spy Matt Helm first.
- Apparently they're going to do 300-style versions of Moby Dick and the story of Moses?! Good lord. Cinematical picks out five more ancient epics that are ripe for the 300 treatment. But really I'd rather there never be another movie like 300. Yuck.
- Scientists are claiming they've found a kindler, gentler, vegetarian spider, but I don't believe it for a second. It's still a nasty, ugly spider. Kill it!
- Speaking of which... ah, Spider Pill!
- Steampunk toilet!
- Write a story with Neil Gaiman on Twitter today.
- A small pile of cute.
- Scans of screenshots of Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth.
