Please explain this commercial to me |
by Fëanor |
poppy and I have seen the above commercial on TV over and over again, and neither of us can figure it out. Does anybody understand it?
A kid (who looks like a rat, by the way, but that's neither here nor there), apparently leaving school, is challenged by a group of other kids to a race home. First of all, whose home? Rat kid's home? Are the other kids related to him? How do they know where he lives? Anyway, rat kid accepts wordlessly and runs for it. Next thing you know, he's jumping into the back of a van. Whose van? Is that his mom driving? We have to assume so. If it's not, then that raises a LOT of other questions. Is the van parked at his home? So he won the race? Or is it parked somewhere else? If so, where? Was his mother expecting him? It doesn't really look like it. Why not? It looks like she was just about to drive away. Why? Where is she going? Is she driving home now, and that's why the other kids are giving up, because they can't beat the car home? But if so, why didn't she go pick up her kid first? And where the hell was she? And how did rat kid know she would be there?
Okay, maybe I'm over-analyzing, but even on a basic level of just understanding what's going on, I just don't get this commercial. |
