Update-a-Rama |
by Fëanor |
Last night, I stayed up late installing Windows XP Service Pack 2. I know, I know. But I heard that they were going to force it on me early in April, and I decided I wanted to control the install myself. I had a few minutes, and I just decided to take the plunge.
After running Ad-Aware and installing new BIOS and rebooting and installing XP SP2 and rebooting and then running Norton Antivirus Live Update a few times and rebooting and installing SP2 updates and rebooting, I was finally done. And so far, everything seems okay, except that the internet is running painfully, painfully slow, in fits and starts. I'm hoping this is just a Cocmast-related problem, and not a computer-related problem. I though it might have something to do with the fact that I had three firewalls running simultaneously (ZoneAlarm, my Cable Gateway's firewall, and the new Windows XP firewall), so I turned off ZoneAlarm, but that doesn't seem to have helped very much.
Ah, well. Anyway, the upshot is, I was exhausted today and barely functional. And the festival is coming up, which will entail a great lack of sleep, so I'd better find time to rest up soon...
In other news, I think I've fixed my on-and-off time and date problem with blog posts, and made the timestamping more reliable, but we'll see what happens when I post this sucker.
UPDATE: Worked perfectly! Hah hah! |
