On the Viewer - Fantastic Mr. Fox |
by Fëanor |
After holding the Netflix DVD at our house for... months, I think (we like to pay Netflix to act as a very low capacity DVD warehouse for them), poppy and I finally watched this movie. It's good! Quirky in that distinctive Wes Anderson way, but also sweet and funny and moving and nice. It's about embracing who you are and who your loved ones are, however weird that is, and appreciating what you have. Some of the best bits: the insane sport known as whackbat (which is sort of like cricket); Michael Gambon's understated performance as the evil farmer Bean, who's also wonderfully animated; Ash's brilliant, triumphant, climactic whackbat-inspired athletic performance, which helps orchestrate the defeat of the evil farmers, and our heroes' escape; Bill Murray's badger suddenly and vehemently revealing his expertise in explosives and demolitions; "Okay, I'm putting dirt in my ears. I can't hear you, but keep talking."
Now put on this bandit hat. |
