(UPDATE: Unfortunately, many of the links below won't work right now, due to the fact that the Movie Blog just went down, apparently--from what I read when I go to their homepage, anyway--because they forgot to pay their bills! Hopefully they'll pay up and the links will be working again soon; I depend on that site for my movie news, damn it!)
Movie news perhaps of particular interest to the movie night folks:
- A Sleuth remake. Sounds like a bad idea at first, but it's actually kind of cool, because Michael Caine plans to be in it again, this time as the character originally played by Laurence Olivier, with Jude Law playing Caine's original character. I love the role reversal idea, and Law is an excellent young actor who would be great in the part. I'll be interested to see what happens with this.
- In other, less welcome, remake news, Don't Look Now. Many people I know disagree with me that the original is a great movie (and would certainly disagree with what the guy writing this article has to say about the sex scene), but I think everyone will agree that it should not be remade.
- Batman Begins is barely out in the theater, and already with the Joker casting rumors! Surprisingly, I like all the actors mentioned so far in these articles, although I'd particularly like to see a Crispin Glover Joker. "Hello, McFly!" Did you see him in the opening scene of Dead Man? Did you see the site for his directorial debut, What Is It? This guy actually is a psychopath. He'd be perfect as the Joker.
- King Kong teaser trailer tonight at 8:59 on various NBC Universal networks. I was hoping this would be a full-on trailer, but this article says it's only going to be 30 seconds long. Still, King Kong! Peter Jackson! Woo hoo! You better believe I'll have my set tuned to an NBC station tonight at 8:59. If I remember...
Also, latest PA = funny b/c true. |
