Gnus 2: Gnus of the World |
by Fëanor |
- Dude, I really wish getting into NYC wasn't such an annoying process for me, because there's some awesome Japanese film programs going on there currently. There's Anime!! at the MOMA right now (although it's almost over), Summer Samurai at the Film Forum (so many awesome movies!!! And many of them star Toshiro Mifune and/or Tatsuya Nakadai, two of my favorite ever Japanese actors), and then later, again at the MOMA, another collection of Japanese films called Early Autumn.
Argh! I may have to overcome my fear of New York for at least a day or so. Some of that stuff just looks too cool to miss.
- Some news on the next project by Richard Kelly, the guy who made Donnie Darko. It's called Southland Tales, and it appears to consist of a bunch of stars (including Cheri Oteri as a villainous lesbian bodybuilder!) hanging out in a pre-apocalyptic LA. Sounds weird and interesting, and I loved DD, so I'm looking forward to it.
- Yeah, that explains a lot.
- The trailer for the Australian "western" The Proposition (via The Movie Blog) has some of the worst audio I've ever heard, and is thus nearly unintelligible, but what I did manage to glean from it I like. In fact, I thought the film was worth a watch even before I realized that the Nick Cave they credit as the screenwriter is indeed that Nick Cave--the guy with the Bad Seeds and such. I'm definitely going to have to check this one out.
