Clips and Clops
 by Fëanor

Okay, I swear this will be my last post today. Seriously.
  • Some...interesting news on the new Beowulf film project. Apparently, some folks have read the review, and they say it's like Conan the Barbarian, only with way more violence and sex. I'm not sure how to feel about that, but I think I'm going to come down on the side of...intrigued and hopeful.

  • I'd never heard of the film stay before, but I came across the trailer while hanging out at the QuickTime movie trailer site, and it looks pretty cool. Good director (the guy who did Monster's Ball), some talented stars (Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts, Bob Hoskins), and a creepy-looking what's-real-what's-not kind of storyline about dead people showing up alive. Might have to check this one out.

  • If you're like me, you can't wait to check out Transporter 2, but you're not going to be able to actually make it out to the theater to see it for another week and a half. If this is so, then cheer up, you weird clones of myself! Whilst cruising the aforementioned QuickTime trailer website, I discovered that there are clips of two action scenes from the film available for your viewing pleasure on the interwebs!

Firstly, I present you with a rousing sequence of events taking place in a hospital, and secondly, an incredibly fantastic and amazing fight scene involving a hose. Seriously, my friends, you need to check these out. I was reduced to a gibbering mess, laughing and crying at once, by the time I got to the end of the hose clip.

  • Salon Audiofile (which is totally my favorite column on Salon these days) brings us video clips from the MTV Katrina relief special. Most of them didn't interest me, but there are a few gems, like Trent Reznor doing "Hurt" (it's just him and a piano), Beck playing a great acoustic version of "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometimes," and Fiona Apple performing the excellent title track from her new album, Extraordinary Machine.

  • (If you are dje2004, please ignore this bullet point. Thank you.) Also via Salon are a couple of fun Sleater-Kinney videos from their latest album (to get to the video at the former link, just pause the audio playing at the top and scroll down to the middle of the page). Actually, the video part of these videos could be better, but I love S-K, and these songs--"Jumpers" and "Entertain"--are just fantastic (two of the best on the album, I think), so check 'em out. Then buy the CD!
