Progress: Page 465.
Spoiler of the day (highlight to read): I really like Septon Meribald. The Brienne chapter where we meet him is really good.
Ah, poor Samwell bumps into Arya randomly, and neither know the other one or realize what secrets they hold for each other. It was good to see Sam fight back a bit, although, damn he was lucky to get out of that canal alive.
Practically every line that the character of Shitmouth spoke made me crack up for a full minute. I was driving poppy crazy. Sometimes my sense of humor is really juvenile.
The new High Septon is pretty cool, huh? He seems to be the first actually legitimately pious guy in that position - although he's not above making a little deal every once in a while. I'm not sure Cersei realizes what she's gotten into with these Swords and Stars. She's basically authorized the creation of holy armies that could easily turn against her.
George is really getting haphazard and weird with the naming of chapters. Victarion's first chapter is entitled "The Iron Captain," but his next one is called "The Reaver." Why the change?
I love that one of the Iron Islanders' ships is called Lord Dagon. Thank you, George, for making the Lovecraft connection even stronger!
Well, we all know who Lady Stoneheart is, don't we? Holy crap. She's leading her own band now?!
I really loved Jaime's thoughts on page 454: "This is a time for beasts, for lions and wolves and angry dogs, for ravens and carrion crows."
Everybody keeps talking about the Golden Company breaking their contract, and they all have different ideas why. I think they forsook their loyalty to their customer for loyalty to Dany. |
