Post-Holiday Catch-up (or is that catsup?) Volume 1: The Movie Post
 by Fëanor

  • UPDATE: I almost forgot - MP3s of wonderfully horrible radio ads for schlocky old exploitation movies, via Cinematical. I think Sarcasmo in particular will enjoy these.

  • I've never seen, or even heard of (until now, of course) the original Fiend Without a Face, but it sounds fun. Anyway, they're remaking it now and, strangely enough, it actually sounds like the kind of movie that could use remaking. The original probably wasn't very good, and (judging by the picture in this Cinematical post) had lame effects. So maybe Hollywood can actually manage to make a new, better version of it. What a refreshing idea!

  • I was a little disappointed by Bubba Ho-Tep (I thought it had a great concept and a few great scenes, but it wasn't as fun or as cool as it could have been), but I'm still pretty thrilled about the news that the sequel, Bubba Nosferatu, may actually be in the works. Don Coscarelli directing Bruce Campbell as Elvis fighting vampires? How could that not be awesome?

(Btw, allow me to rag on Cinematical for a moment. From the linked article: "Virtually from the moment Bubba Ho-Tep was released, rumors have been rampant about a planned sequel..." Umm, that's because they mentioned the sequel - title and all - in the credits of the original movie!!)

  • Dude, George Clooney might direct a Coen brothers screenplay entitled Suburbicon! Awesome! Not much detail on what the movie's about yet, but who cares - it's Clooney on the Coens!

  • Kelsey Grammar as Beast in X3?!? And furthermore, the story is supposedly going to center on Beast and the emotional and social difficulties he has to deal with as a mutant. Hoo boy. Well, I'm still going to stick to my motto: "It could be good!"

  • Backwards City has a post about the trials and tribulations endured by Kevin Smith at the hands of stupid producers while trying to write the fifth Superman movie, and it is truly surreal. The link to the thread they're quoting from doesn't seem to work anymore, but there's quite enough in the post itself to keep you horrified and amused, I think.

  • Forget Blu-Ray and HD-DVD - the next, next generation of storage media will be holographic!! The future is here, and we're living in it - in 3D! Or something...

  • Sarcasmo may think she knows movies, but I'm the one who knows movies! You must all bow before me now. (Warning: the spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization in this quiz is atrocious. But I scored higher than 99%, so I'm posting it anyway.)

Wow, you my friend watch a hell of a lot of movies. You're to be lauded for your dedication. Now, pat yourself on the back, take a shower, and leave the apartment.
