The Blues and the Funk |
by Fëanor |
- Despite the fact that I was disappointed by Oldboy, I still love Park Chan-wook, and I can't wait to see what he does next. And now that I've read about his next two projects, I'll find waiting to see them even harder. The first is a romantic comedy called Even If You're a Cyborg, It's No Problem (literal translation) about a man in love with a woman who thinks she's a cyborg, and the second is a vampire horror film called The Bat that, Chan-wook says, is "more about the question of the existence of God and Evil than" it is about vampires. Fantastic.
- This sounds like a kind of dream project to me; apparently, some time back in 1999, Jack Black starred in a pilot for Fox, directed by Ben Stiller, called Heat Vision and Jack about "an astronaut who flies too close to the sun, returns to Earth with super intelligence and fights crime [and a villainous Ron Silver, playing himself!] with the help of his talking motorcycle (voiced by Owen Wilson)." How awesome does that sound?? Okay, maybe it sounds horrific to some of you, but to me it sounds awesome. Anyway, apparently there's now talk of turning it into an honest-to-God movie! So excellent!
- Bandidas is an action comedy that stars Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz as a pair of bank robbers in turn-of-the-century Mexico. You can check out the trailer on the (apparently French?) website here (via Cinematical). Looks very Charlie's Angels. It will undoubtedly be cheesy, stupid, and predictable. However, it also features Hayek and Cruz in hot outfits, getting into sweaty cat-fights with each other, and making out a lot (though this time not necessarily with each other, sadly). So...I kind of want to see it. Kind of.
