Form of a Blog Post! |
by Fëanor |
Probably should have split this up into a multi-volume post like I've been doing lately, but I was too lazy. In other words, get your scrolling fingers ready, people.
- Bored? Head over to the Overdrive on MTV.com and watch the original pilot and the first few episodes of "Aeon Flux." You'll find them under "Movies." There's also a clip from the film, because obviously that's what this is really all about - marketing the new movie (which apparently landed in the box office this weekend with a dull thud). Sadly, the movie looks to be as dull, boring, and cliched as the original was surreal, imaginative, and perverted. I'm not saying I won't rent it anyway, but still. (Via Backwards City)
- Hey, they finally figured out how bees fly! I don't really totally understand it myself, but, as you might suspect, it seems to involve lots of flapping. Anyway, I'm just glad somebody understands it, and they've got this mystery taken care of. Now they can move right on to figuring out what happens after death. (Via Backwards City)
- This lovely Backwards City Christmas post features both a typically (but wonderfully) stupid and insane quote from "The O'Reilly Factor" (it's one of those surreal, verging on self-parody, "I can't believe they really said this" moments), and an excerpt from an essay by Umberto Eco on Christmas, which I highly recommend you read in its entirety.
- These pictures really kind of make me want to go to LEGOLand. Or maybe even work there. Amazing stuff. (Via Backwards City)
- Rest assured, if there is an age-old problem that needs solving, a website will be created to take care of it. Behold: WhatWasThatMovie.com! As Backwards City points out, the unsolved questions section is the most interesting. It's people getting together and helping each other to figure out what that one movie was. God bless you, internet!
- Check it out: Cinematical has the link to pictures from the upcoming X-Men movie, which include photos of Kelsey Grammar as Beast (not bad!) and Ben Foster as Angel (awesome!). I'm disappointed that they're bringing back - again! - the super-lame Storm complete with super-lame wooden acting by Halle Berry, but what with all the new mutants being introduced in this one, maybe she will be safely pushed into the background.
- Being the giant Star Wars geek that I am, this site about watching all six Star Wars films simultaneously would always fascinate me, but it's particularly interesting now, what with our Star Wars New Year's Eve party coming up wherein we plan to screen every single Star Wars movie ever, plus the "Clone Wars" cartoons and the Holiday Special (which party, if you're reading this, you're probably invited to, and if you didn't get the email about it already, it was an oversight and I'm sorry). The guy has found some fun little connections and coincidences amongst the movies, but mainly I just applaud him for doing this at all, and then making a website about it. You rock, guy. You are king of nerds.
- Remember that weird TV pilot I mentioned a post or two ago called Heat Vision and Jack, wherein Jack Black gains superpowers and cavorts with a talking motorcycle? Well, dude has a torrent of it. How much does the internet rock? I'll be watching this later. And not at all while I'm at work. I would never do that. (Via The Movie Blog)
