Phantom Limb
 by Fëanor

This morning, I woke up with a strange and painful ache in my upper right arm, extending from my fingers, through my wrist, all the way back to my elbow. Before the pain ebbed and poppy pointed out that I probably just slept on it wrong, I came up with various possible explanations for this:

  • I re-broke my right wrist* somehow in my sleep, perhaps during a violent dream that I don't remember about fighting somebody or something by repeatedly punching or elbowing it with my right arm.

  • That sympathetic pain link that I've heard I'm supposed to have with my identical twin finally kicked in, coincident with bloginator breaking his arm last night/early this morning. (I didn't check with him to confirm, but I suspect all his bones are intact.)

  • That ability to predict the weather via aches in old wounds or broken limbs that I've heard I'm supposed to have finally kicked in, coincident with a big snow storm that's coming today and that none of the weather people know about for some reason.

* Some quick back-story for those unaware: many years ago, during some friendly horseplay with the cool kid who lived behind me, I broke my right wrist. I got to wear a cast and couldn't write legibly for weeks. Some people would say I still can't write legibly; admittedly, my penmanship has not improved much since about the 7th grade.
