An awful lot has been made about the 37 year old woman who molested the 15 year old boy, getting knocked up in the process. I have had several conversations about labeling such a coupling as molestation or statutory rape, and I think it is an interesting debate. One way or the other, however, it is really creepy, and today's headlines reinforced that for me. Now, I have often been confused with the much older woman/teenaged boy relationship, because I, for one, couldn't be bothered with 15 year old boys when I was 15. The age gap usually works in reverse, and for good reason. Dating someone younger is a huge pain in the ass, and most 15 year old boys are simply not cute enough or interesting enough to warrant the trouble. The idea, then, that the wooing style of said 15 year old, aggressive as that may be in the charming way that teenaged boys are aggressive, knocks the socks off a grown woman is perhaps less sick than just plain pathetic. She said she usually prefers older men. Would that be 17 year olds? I mean, by that time they could have their very own muscle car... |
