Weekend Leftovers, Volume Two |

- Joystiq has mined a surprisingly revealing article from National Geographic Kids Magazine to bring us the latest info on the Nintendo Revolution, and some of it is pretty intriguing and exciting. Sounds like the system will definitely be out this year, and that controller really is going to be pretty awesome, allowing you to swing it like a sword, or a bat, or even punch with it in your hand to make stuff happen in the game. Check the article for more details. Sweet.
- It's the film of the story of the titanic and legendary struggle: Ninjas Vs. Pirates, the movie! The acting is awful, and despite being three acts long (plus a fourth act which is really just a funny credits sequence - as well as a highly embarrassing and entertaining ninja rap video - but which you should totally watch, too, anyway), it really feels more like a summary or ad for a movie than an actual movie itself. But still, it's a ton of fun. Thank you, Cinematical.
- Digg has the link to what claims to be a movie of Nintendo's "Interactive Floor" technology. It's not the highest quality video (looks like it was taken with somebody's handheld video recorder), but you can see enough to come to the conclusion that this is pretty cool technology. I don't know how this will fit in with Nintendo's future products, or if it will have anything to do with the Revolution, but it's awesome nonetheless.
- Do you remember the Optimus keyboard? It's a completely dynamic keyboard where each key is mappable to pretty much any function, and each key is also a screen that can display a graphic or word describing its current function. It sounds awesome, but I thought it was just going to be another of those crazy gadgets that was perpetually "under development," and we'd never see it actually built. But now it looks like I was wrong, and the Optimus keyboard will be available February 1st. They're even promising a split, ergonomic version in the future. Sweet. (Via Digg)
- Joystiq brings us the link to a Quicktime movie of a live performance of Nintendo's boxing game for the NES, Punch-Out. I'm sure this would be even funnier if I remembered that game better, but it's still quite entertaining.
- These Snake Robots are pretty cool, but look at this picture of one of them serving as the ring-bearer at the inventor's wedding and tell me he isn't just a little too obsessed with them. (Via Digg)
