by Fëanor |
Hey, remember that Cafepress store I used to have? Well, I still have it! My brother realized this, and sent me a T-shirt design, so I put it up! That's right, a new product! Amazing. Here it is. You could buy it, if you wanted. I'm just saying.
(Btw, one of my old T-shirt designs had to die so that this one might live. But seeing as how only one person ever bought it, and that person was my Dad, I don't think anyone will miss it.)
UPDATE: Yeah, so, never mind! Turns out CafePress did not like that design. Fair enough, I suppose. |

- Piggie!
- I'm a big fan of early filmmaker Georges Méliès, especially his celebrated Le Voyage Dans La Lune. Well, that film has been restored with a new soundtrack by French pop duo Air! Here's a clip.
- I feel like I've seen this before... but anyway, it's still cool: 48 years of Doctor Who in about 10 minutes.
- You can download a free copy of the game they played in The Last Starfighter right here! It's a PC-only exe, by the way; sorry, Mac-users. I haven't played it yet, but I will! (Via)
- Well, Liam Neeson was at least on the set of The Dark Knight Rises. And he may have a cameo reprising his role as Ra's al Ghul. Which would be AWESOME.
- You can now purchase this great Hellboy/Peanuts mashup.
- I enjoy this Adopt a Dire Wolf T-shirt. It supports a good cause!
- Via Warren Ellis, "Indonesian man arrested for kicking woman he thought was a ghost." And really, from the way he describes it, I might have kicked her, too. But more likely I probably would have just run screaming.

- I hear the last Harry Potter movie is out. Neat. In celebration of this, I give you: a couple of fun pieces of Harry Potter art; a great interview with the actor who plays Neville (his name is Matthew Lewis); an amusing photograph; and a fun cosplay idea from Super Punch for your next Harry Potter event: dress up as a wizard trying to dress up as a muggle.
- Cool gallery of pics from Cowboys & Aliens (am I crazy, or didn't this movie used to be called Cowboys vs. Aliens??) Sadly no shots from the rumored Olivia Wilde nude scene are included.
- Here are a couple of trailers I've posted multiple times to Twitter, and am posting again here (what? I like them!): The Thing and John Carter. Both a lot better-looking than I expected.
- Black and WTF has had a lot of amazing posts lately. Witness Kitten in Spaghetti, children posing with a giant cat, a girl in a gas mask staring at a hooded falcon, and kids reading the first wireless newspaper.
- The last two Let's Be Friends Again were pretty fantastic.
- Gallery of geeky dresses.
- Usually in video games you go for the high score, but beating Super Mario Bros. with a score of only 600 points is pretty impressive.
- Here's a handy list of all the sci-fi TV series premiering this fall, and the dates they air.
- David "Dark Knight" Goyer will write the screenplay for Legendary Pictures' upcoming reboot of Godzilla. Woah. Could we actually get a well-written Godzilla film? The mind boggles.
- Video demonstrations of a couple of neat-looking video games developed by a fellow named Arthur Nishimoto. Both are multi-player games played on a giant touch-screen. Star Wars Fleet Commander is a real-time strategy game that simulates giant space battles and TRON: Game Grid recreates the Ring Game from the movie.
- The canvas wasn't big enough to hold this painting.
- Yet another photo of dwarves from The Hobbit. This time it's Balin and Dwalin. I have to admit, some of the makeup here looks a bit goofy, but maybe it'll work better on screen.
- I just wanted to mention that for some reason I really enjoy Business Cat.

- I've got a bunch of Song of Ice and Fire links for you today! First up is a list of ten characters io9 suspects they will leave out of season 2 of Game of Thrones. I'd be happy if they left out the rather horrendous story of poor Lollys, but I'd be really sad to lose Vargo Hoat, Aeron Greyjoy, and Craster. Next is a huge, amazing map of Westeros (via). Then we've got 11 versions of the excellent theme song from Game of Thrones. Finally, a few photos of the actress who will play Brienne in the series. She seems a little too pretty for the role, but George R.R. Martin says she looked the part when she came in to audition, so...
- If you haven't already seen it, here's our first look at Dori, Nori, and Ori from The Hobbit.
- A shirt that gives us a map of the Earth, if the Earth were reimagined as Super Mario World.
- A cool illustration blog, featuring covers for books from video game worlds. (Via)

- A couple of fun recent entries on Reelizer: a Monty Python and the Holy Grail poster called "Find the Grail" (which might be instructions as well as a title, but the image is too small to do a proper "Where's Waldo?"-style search), and a beautiful Blade Runner poster.
- Speaking of posters, here's a snazzy one for Raiders of the Lost Ark.
- Dawww. Totally cute Firefly image.
- Heh. A look at the inbox of the Witch-King of Angmar.
- I'm pretty sure I've linked to Hungover Owls here before, but the last couple entries have been golden, so here you go again.
- Awesome Captain America art from Mr. Hipp in honor of the 4th of July.
- BBC News lists 50 of the most hated office-speak phrases. This is from the UK so obviously some of these are a bit odd to American eyes, but a surprising number are painfully familiar. (Via S)
- Pretty stunning photos of people cosplaying as Lady Gaga for the recent "Lady Gaga Day" in the Taiwanese city of Taichung.
- You know I can't get through one of these without some Star Wars links, but this time I will try to keep them to one bullet point. Here's Leia as a Sith, Luke being super-emo (though to be fair he has good reason, as the image makes clear), and a potential T-shirt revealing Leia's reaction when she learned her true parentage.
- Patton Oswalt's rejected pitches for Batman comics are pretty amazing. I'd read those!
- Hipster Puppies is now a book!
- Realistic, disturbing reimaginings of Super Mario villains.
- Amazing convention sketches by David Aja.
- How about some Harry Potter links? Here's a cool (if slightly inaccurate) illustration of Harry protecting Sirius from the Dementors; an amusing T-shirt (via); and all the Harry Potter novels summarized as mostly-wordless, single-page comics.
- Fun Wolverine T-shirt done in the style of old cartoons.
- I hadn't heard of this book called Gods Behaving Badly - about the Greek Gods secretly alive and well in present day and disguised as normal human beings in New York City - but it sounds like fun. And now there's going to be a movie with a pretty amazing cast: Christopher Walken (Zeus), John Turturro (Hades), Sharon Stone (Aphrodite), Edie Falco (Artemis), Phylicia Rashad (Demeter), Nelsan Ellis (Dionysus), Gideon Glick (Eros), Henry Zebrowski (Hermes), Rosie Perez (Persephone).

- Shirt irony!
- A nice piece depicting a tense moment from Aliens.
- Dan Hipp knows how to push my buttons.
- The latest Awesome Hospital amused me. "That'll get you thirty CCs of Ripitupazine, braff." Heh.
- io9 talks about some legendary cryptids that turned out to be real. Yay, platypus! Also, dream on, bigfoot believers! Btw, send your cryptid photos to io9 - they're offering a $2,000 bounty!
- Wizard World was in town recently - right near where I work, in fact - but I still didn't make it over there, because it's super expensive and I just would have wanted to buy everything I saw. Also, kinda busy here. Get off my case! Ahem. Anyway, I can simulate a visit to Wizard World by clicking here and looking at these pictures! And so can you!
- Have I posted about Yog-Blogsoth yet? I should have if I didn't. It's a dude trying to draw every creature in every H.P. Lovecraft story. Love the title, the concept, and the art! But beware - some of the images are NSFW. (Via)
- A camera that lets you adjust the focus after the picture has been taken?? Wow. The future is cool.
- Turns out the Red Skull started life as the cherry on an ice cream sundae.
- I'm not convinced Steven Spielberg's dinosaur show, Terra Nova, is going to be any good, but these posters are fun.
- Click through for links to many beautiful photos of a wedding at a museum.
- Emergency stakes.
- I would like to have this cookies n' cream cake, please. (Via)
- Enjoying this nostalgic Zelda comic and this NSFW Tyrion fan art from this Super Punch link roundup.
- Check out a bunch of cool posters for Immortals, the mythological epic from Tarsem Singh that I continue to be very excited about.
- If you haven't seen the new Captain America trailer yet, you really should. It looks like they got Cap's character just right. So many scenes and lines of dialog in here are so perfect. Really looking forward to this one!
- A six-foot LEGO model of Sauron's Dark Tower. Sweet!
