| Five weird habits |

Via Vis Major, via MouseRobot, via god knows who else:
1) When I'm walking and not carrying anything, I often find myself with my left hand balled up, with my thumb held between my index and middle fingers. This happens with my right hand sometimes too, but the left is almost inevitable. It happens whether my arm is swinging at my side or if my hand is in my pocket. I stop doing it when I notice, but it ends up that way again anyways.
2) I have an obsession with cleaning crevices. I'll pick and pick at the lint screen in our dryer to try to get the random pieces loose. I'll take pins and pry dried dirt out of the treads of my shoes. And don't get me started on getting hairballs out of drains.
3) If I'm speaking to someone who has a Southern accent, I invariably adopt a bit of one myself. It could be that my family is from the South (although that seems flimsy, since I don't talk to those people), or it could be that I just find them damn sexy. In any event, it is often embarassing, like the time I was being interviewed for a job by a woman from Georgia.
4) I bless myself when an ambulance goes by. I temporarily suspended this habit when I lived across the street from a hospital.
5) I have to have my neck covered when I'm asleep. When I was little I had a stuffed leopard that was shaped in such a way that it fit snugly around the exposed areas of my neck. Now the covers will suffice, or a pajama collar turned up; I guess I'm getting beyond the point where Dracula would be interested, so I've relaxed my preventative measures. |
