-Guitar Hero update: seven songs left on Expert Career Mode. Right now I'm at the end of the fifth tier, trying to get past the brutal "No One Knows" and the almost equally brutal "Crossroads." "No One Knows" was one of my greatest enemies in Hard, and here it is again, except now much, much worse. Argh! There's just something about the rhythm I can't quite get down. There are these passages of note, chord, note, chord that just murder me. But I guess I'll keep at it...
-Saw a couple movies recently:
-Hoodwinked: Poppy liked this one, but I wasn't such a big fan. It's that computer-animated movie that was out a few years ago that retells the Red Riding Hood story in a Rashomon type of way, from various different viewpoints, and all kinds of secrets come out, and eventually it turns out to all be about a hostile takeover. It was kind of mediocre and only funny every once in a while.
-Eddie Izzard: Dress to Kill: Fabulous, as always.
-The Hills Have Eyes: This was the original one, not the recent remake. I've been meaning to see this for years, and now finally got around to it. It was sort of like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, except actually pretty good! Yeah, I liked it. On one level, it's a straightforward horror flick that works pretty well; it's believable, creepy. On another level, it seems to be about the thin line between supposedly civilized Man, and the brutal Beast. |
