The usual - a random collection of items
 by Fëanor

-It's finally actually going to happen. Awesome. Appropriately enough, my brother and I will be going to see the Genesis tribute/tour re-creation band The Musical Box tonight at the Tower.

-We finally got a couple of nice coats for our doggie. He doesn't like them very much, because they both have hoods which for some reason are called "snoods." But they will keep him warm and dry in the rain, and besides, he looks sssssooooooo cute in them! Seriously, I've got to take some pictures of him modeling them. You'll just die.

-In other news, the band Forward Russia is awesome! One awesome thing about Phillyist is that I just get mailed CDs all the time by people I've never heard of, and they often turn out to be really good. Sadly, I don't feel right writing about them for the site unless they come to Philly, and these guys are not on their way as far as I can tell. So I tell you folks instead.

-Poppy and I have theme costumes ready. They were Poppy's idea, and I think it was a pretty clever and funny idea, even if wearing my costume may shame me deeply. We've really got to try them on soon, though, and make sure they fit; time is getting short!

-I totally suck and backed out on my own movie night this week. Sorry, folks. I'd just scheduled way too much stuff this week, though, and I was really tired and still recovering from whatever that flu/cold/allergy thing was I had. I'm actually even now still recovering, but I'm feeling a lot better, and I think it's nearly gone. Anyway, I hope you guys had fun watching one of my movies, even if I wasn't there to introduce it...

-I'm finding it quite hard, as usual, to keep up with my TV shows. The last "Battlestar" is still sitting on a VHS tape in my VCR at home, pretty much completely unwatched; I'm going to have to remember to fast forward to the end and set it up to record the next episode now. I remembered to start downloading the latest "Lost" episode from iTunes this morning; I'll load it up on the 'pod when I get home.

-Am also painfully behind on my magazines. I have Wireds and Pastes going back months that I haven't even cracked open yet (well, okay, I took the CDs out of the Pastes, but other than that, no).

-A while ago I picked up the entire trade paperback edition of Crisis on Infinite Earths. Sadly, it's written by Marv Wolfman, one of my absolute least favorite comic writers. The guy is just so incredibly corny and melodramatic. It's like reading a comic by a twelve-year-old. I know he's important to the history of the medium and all, but Jesus. I'm so glad guys like Frank Miller, Neil Gaiman, and Alan Moore showed up to bring complexity, subtlety, and an adult sensibility to comics. Anyway, I'm still working my way through the book, despite the poor writing, basically just so I can say I did. It's important, as a reader and lover of comics, to know your history, and to have read the pivotal books. I've also got the death of Superman book at home, amongst other famous books.

-Okay, guess that's it for now...
