Lost Finale Spoilers |
by Fëanor |
Probably everybody else has already watched the season finale of Lost, but I'm just getting to it. And actually, I haven't finished it yet, but I did just see Charlie's death scene. And I'm pissed. Because I liked Charlie, and he died for no reason in a way that made no sense.
Okay, so he's in the submerged station, and he and Desmond have done what they came to do - they turned off the jamming signal. Then crazy Russian guy* blows up a grenade outside the window and starts flooding the place. So what does Charlie do? He closes the door to the control room, effectively killing himself.
But... why?! They were done! There was no reason to stay, and no reason not to let the whole place just get flooded. Why not grab Desmond, jump in the moon pool, and escape the way they came?
Seriously, why? I mean, that just really pisses me off. I would have been okay with Charlie sacrificing himself to save everybody, but he didn't. He sacrificed himself for no reason at all.
I'm probably going to watch the rest of the episode anyway, and I'm probably going to keep watching the show. But I'm seriously unhappy.
* UPDATE: Speaking of the Russian guy, is he invincible or something? He's already been zapped by the security fence and now shot or stabbed, I can't remember; if he survives the grenade explosion, too, I'm going to have to assume he's indestructible. Maybe he wished for indestructibility and got it out of the magic box? Or did the invisible man in the shack in the middle of the jungle help him to become indestructible? Okay, I'm getting a little tired of Lost now. |
