Oh, the Pain! |
by Fëanor |
My incredible weariness continues, and I see no sign of it stopping any time soon, as tomorrow I intend to get up very early to go vote, and then stay up late watching election results.
Argh.
I finally got around to watching another episode of "Firefly" last night, and it only confirmed my good opinion of the show. It's not totally amazing or anything, it's just that every once in a while it has one of those Whedonesque moments that just makes me break out into stunned and appreciative laughter. For instance (beware--spoilers ahead): A bad guy pays the Captain and his crew to do a heist, which the Captain ultimately decides not to do for ethical reasons. So the bad guy's number one henchman is sent to kill the Captain and his crew. The Captain captures the henchman and is hoping to make it right with the bad guy by returning the henchman, along with the money he was paid, and a promise to never mess with the bad guy again. The henchman says the normal henchman stuff--it won't do any good, I'll just come back and hunt you down and kill you. I'm thinking, "Wow, the Captain should really kill that guy," but I'm also thinking there's no way he will, because good guys never do that kind of thing, and plus it will mean all but eliminating a possible recurring plot, as well as killing a character that the show has just spent some time developing. But the Captain just says, "Damn," and kicks the dude right into the ship's thruster. Awesome.
Besides "Firefly," there's plenty of other DVDs and movies around that I want to watch, but I never seem to have the time. I've got a couple of other discs from Netflix that have been sitting around forever, and plenty of DVDs that I purchased and haven't watched yet. For instance, I just picked up the complete collection of Universal Mummy movies and Universal Frankenstein movies for really cheap (thanks in part to a gift certificate) off of Amazon. Hoo boy. And there's a bunch of interesting stuff in the theaters--like Primer, Team America (which have been recommended to me by Super Tarzan and Dave, respectively), and Saw. Plus, The Incredibles is coming out this weekend, and the second volume of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection is coming out on DVD tomorrow. Also coming out tomorrow is Lord of the Rings: The Third Age which, while not a movie, is a LotR-themed platform RPG, and is actually available for a platform I own (GameCube). Can you hear me slobbering with anticipation??
Yeah, so I'm all obsessed with RPGs all the sudden, which is a little surprising to me, though maybe not to you. My obsession with LotR is surprising to no one.
Anyways...yeah, that's pretty much it for that. Everybody remember to vote tomorrow! And then, you know, maybe in a month or two we'll know who our next president is going to be. |
