Potter V Movie |
by Fëanor |
AWESOME. Best one yet. Of course, I'm biased due to the fact that I haven't read the book lately. The only bit that bugged me was the way they changed the prophecy - the fact that Harry heard it in the Ministry before the Death Eaters even showed up. It really eliminated some of the drama of the sequence. The only reason he wants to hold onto the thing at all in the book is because it's about him and he hasn't heard it. In fact, no one has. In the movie, he has no reason to want to keep the thing at all; he can smash it any time he likes without worrying about it. Also, we don't get the scene later on where Dumbledore reveals the contents of the prophecy to him, and the fact that Trelawney was the one that gave it, and that's why he keeps her around, which I thought was actually a pretty important plot point. But anyway, not that big a deal. Otherwise, it's a fantastic movie. The acting is great across the board; even the kids, who were once wince-inducing, are quite good. The characters are well developed, especially the relationship amongst the three kids, and the relationship between Harry and Sirius. The big fight at the end is action-packed and amazing; the visuals throughout are beautiful. Harry really comes through as a leader and a teacher, which is good to see. Umbridge is also horribly excellent, especially her ridiculous office full of fluffy pink pillows and kitten china. Best of all, perhaps, are Fred and George, who nearly steal the show again, especially with their memorable final exit from Hogwarts.
So, yeah. Kick-ass. Can't wait to get it on DVD. Can't wait to see the next one. Can't wait to read the last book. |
