by Fëanor |
Fëanor pours the entire internet into the Recyclotron, and only the best links come out the other end for you to enjoy.
- You must watch the trailer above for a crazy crowd-sourced remake of Star Wars called Star Wars Uncut. It's truly wonderful. (Via)
- I want this BATMAN SAVES T-shirt. I WANT IT! (Via)
- Scientists have found a planet where they believe it rains rocks. "The atmosphere 'is made up of the ingredients of rocks and when "a front moves in," pebbles condense out of the air and rain into lakes of molten lava below.'"
- Paul Pope adapts a scene from Dune in Wednesday Comics style, and also discusses what it was like drawing and writing for the Wednesday Comics format. I so want to see a full adaptation of the novel done this way! Make it so, Pope!
- The trailer for LEGO Indiana Jones 2. (Via)
- Research suggests a drug could be developed that would take the place of dieting, keeping you healthy and fit and giving you a longer life. I WANT IT NOW WHERE IS IT?!
- The University of Florida has a disaster preparedness plan for a zombie attack. They say it's just a joke, but you never know, it could come in handy some day.
- The Philip K. Dick story "The Adjustment Team" is being adapted into a film starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. I don't know the story, but io9 explains that it's pretty much the same as every other Philip K. Dick story: it turns out the reality you know is a lie!! But somehow Hollywood is going to turn this into a "modern love story." Gack!
- An examination of TV characters who have died but come back.
- A really interesting discussion of the process of adapting Where the Wild Things Are into a movie.
- A gallery of really neat illustrations of monsters and robots.
- John Lasseter describes the process of designing the character Buzz Lightyear, and shows off an incredibly accurate Buzz Lightyear toy.
- Terrible news! There will be a Transformers 3, perhaps as early as the summer of 2011. Despite their recent war of words, Michael Bay wants Megan Fox back. So I guess that's the silver lining here.
- Tiny hungry hippo!
- Scientists have found a huge cache of dinosaur eggs in India. If this were a movie, they would all begin hatching. HATCH, EGGS! HATCH!!!
- You can purchase here the World's Largest Gummy Bear, which is nine inches tall, costs $30, and weighs five pounds. Good lord! P.S. Definitely click through, scroll down, and watch the amusing commercial. (Via)
- Check out video of a jet-powered carousel. It spits flames!
- Excellent replicas of Link's sword and shield.
- A trailer for the Syfy miniseries reimagining of The Phantom. Looks pretty cheesy and cliche, but it amuses me that the new guy refuses to wear the old skin-tight purple suit.
- A handy Venn diagram outlining the similarities and differences between Lost and FlashForward.
- 19 amazing Star Wars pumpkins.
- A developer's diary focusing on how cool the sword fighting will be in Red Steel 2, thanks to the use of the Wii MotionPlus. Exciting!
- Well this is rather terrifying: rumor has it Wii System Update 4.2 is bricking some people's consoles. I think I'll hold off on running that one then!
- Check out Secret of the Incas, a film starring Charlton Heston which may have been the inspiration for Raiders of the Lost Ark.
- A LEGO trash truck of the future.
- Awesome class photo of kids with their daemons.
- Interesting interview with actress/stuntwoman Zoe Bell, which she apparently gave while skateboarding to work.
- Another excellent Daily Batman.
- An exciting preview of Astonishing X-Men #31. (Via)
- Game|Life reports hands-on experiences with a couple of fascinating games: Blind Braver, a game with no graphics which you have to play with your ears, and The Adventures of NeuroBoy, a game you have to play with your brain.
- Cinematical's review of Zombieland makes it sound like a pretty fun movie.
- Robert Downy Jr. might star in Spielberg's Harvey remake.
- Quentin Tarantino says yes, there will be a Kill Bill 3.
- The Earth hums, and analyzing this hum can help us map the planet's interior. Not only that, it could also help us map the interiors of other planets.
- An interesting video about the technology behind the making of The Fantastic Mr. Fox. I like that Wes Anderson himself acted out a lot of the movements for them to base the animation on.
- Woody Allen says he gives a movie a title only when it's finished, and he makes the title aggressive and confident if he thinks it's good, and low-key if he think it's no good. Can't say I agree with NY Mag's analysis of the aggressiveness of his various titles (Love and Death seems like a pretty aggressive and confident title to me), or its estimation of the quality of his movies (Purple Rose of Cairo is definitely one of my favorite Allen films). But still, an interesting article. (Via)
- Cool picture.
