Fëanor pours the entire internet into the Recyclotron, and only the best links come out the other end for you to enjoy.
- New Star Wars LEGO sets! (Via)
- David S. Goyer, of Dark Knight fame, has officially been hired to write a script for a new Superman movie called The Man of Steel. Goyer's idea is apparently based around the mid-1980s, John Byrne version of the character and gives him "a fun, splashy new attitude" (which sounds horrible, but hopefully that line was just put together by an annoying PR person). The story involves Luthor and Brainiac, and Bryan Singer and Brandon Routh probably won't be back. Sounds like we could be on the right track here...
- The University of Mississippi has decided to ditch its questionable old mascot, Col. Rebel. There's a student movement to replace him with Admiral Ackbar, which I heartily endorse.
- The trailer for the new Nightmare on Elm Street. I have to admit, it looks pretty good.
- An interesting list: the 10 most valuable comics in the world.
- Supposedly all these dudes are being considered for the role of Captain America. Can't say I like the idea of any of them getting the part.
- Hands-on review, trailer, and release date for Super Mario Galaxy 2, plus hands-on review, screen shots, and release date for Metroid: The Other M. I've pretty much given up on video games at this point, but I might have to make an exception for a new Metroid.
- Cool concert posters.
- Here's the image that, along with some other goodies, was the final reward of a Tron Legacy alternate reality game.
- A gallery of 8-bit-inspired T-shirts, some cooler than others.
- More fun Alice in Wonderland artwork.
- A set of retro posters created for the BAFTA Best Picture nominees.
- Ben Stiller's coming back for Zoolander 2. The original Zoolander is surprisingly funny, so I would actually consider seeing this. Maybe. If there was nothing else going on.
- Mickey Rourke has signed on to play Conan the barbarian's father. That is awesome casting right there. There's some bad news, though: a new screenwriter has been brought in at the eleventh hour to retool the script. That doesn't seem like a good sign. Meanwhile, the producers of Conan are also moving forward with a Hercules movie. What the hell, they might as well save money and use the same sets and costumes.
- Cinematical posts some of director Tarsem Singh's best commercials, and talks about his upcoming film, Dawn of War. War is about Theseus teaming up with the Gods to take on the Titans, and sounds great. Cinematical talks about the inevitable conflict between War and Clash of the Titans at the box office. I think they're right about one of the films losing out big time to the other as far as audiences are concerned, but for my part, I want to see them both equally. Well, maybe I'm a little more excited about the Tarsem film.
- Warner Brothers is not only making, but actually fast-tracking, a live-action/CGI family comedy about Speedy Gonzales, with George Lopez doing the voice. And they hired the screenwriters of the Garfield movies to write it. This idea is so awful I'm having a hard time even coping with the fact of its existence.
