I love some Stephanie Coontz. A review of her latest book is here. I'm on hold for it at the library, and I'm hoping (and it seems likely) that it reaffirms some of my views on marriage. What's love got to do with it indeed. It is never good to mix love and business. However, as it is a bit late for me to take my own advice, I will stay relatively quiet about it. I did want to make sure to give TrackerNeil a heads up, since he shares the Coontz-love with me. I enjoy this from the review: "Those who bemoan the current state of marriage should blame the Enlightenment emphasis on self-fulfillment and the pursuit of happiness." Tee hee. |
