Recyclinks!
 by Fëanor

  • A little present from me, to you, via Sarcasmo: an lj full of cute little Star Wars cartoons. So cute! So little! And they're even pretty funny, too.

  • Aerenchyma posted this link as a Father's Day gift to her own dear Dad, but it was quite a gift for me, too, and now I re-gift it to you. It's a little quicktime movie, apparently made as a short for Comedy Central, about our president's speech writer, and it explains so much.

  • Meanwhile, the Movie Blog serves up some cartoon-to-movie stories. The first, which is not so horrifying, tells us that He-Man has been cast, so apparently there's going to be another live action film of that cartoon--looks like it's even going to be directed by John Woo. I've mentioned already that I'm not a big Woo fan, but I could see him handling this material pretty well--as well as it can be handled, anyway. As for the actor they picked, I haven't seen him in anything, but from his picture, he looks about right, except that he definitely needs to buff up a bit. Anyway, he can't be worse than Dolph Lundgren, right?

The truly horrifying cartoon movie news can be found here. Apparently there are plans to make both a Smurfs movie and an Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. Are there any cartoons crying out more to not be made into movies? Well, yes, but they already made those into movies.

The vision of Jeff Goldblum as Gargamel kind of makes me want to giggle uncontrollably, though, so maybe this would be fun, in a car crash kind of way.

  • Cool news for space enthusiasts like myself (found via Google News): a low budget, solar-propelled spacecraft is supposed to be launched tomorrow. It will be strapped to an ICBM and fired from a Russian submarine. Awesome!

  • More movie news, also via Google: MI3's got some more folks on board. I wasn't too excited about this one, as I thought MI was just okay and MI2 was pretty bad, but with J. J. Abrams in the director's chair (whom I love for "Lost," and for the first few seasons of "Alias"--but holy crap, this guy wrote Gone Fishin' and Armageddon?! All right, I'm blocking that out...), and now Laurence Fishburne and Philip Seymour Hoffman on the cast, I could see it maybe being worth a watch.

  • Wow, turns out I'm just like Saddam Hussein! Except for the fact that I didn't like totally waste a million people. But still. (Thanks again to Google News for making this link possible.)

  • Okay, it's about time for me to get out of here. But I should let you know there's a good chance you won't get much posting from us in the next week or so, due to the fact that I'll be sitting around watching guys install carpet tomorrow, and then I'll be sitting around watching guys move all our stuff on Friday, and then I'll be sitting around watching another guy install cable on Saturday. Here's hoping it all turns out okay, and I'll be posting a relieved and happy post Saturday evening...
