Pieces of junk (but they make .5 past light speed) |

- A big clump of superhero movie news straight from the mouth of the CEO of Marvel, Avi Arad. While I'm talking about Marvel comic book-to-movie adaptations, I should publicly apologize for some of my comments about X-Men 2 in this journal. Poppy and I caught a good portion of it on HBO a night or so ago and watching it again I realized that it's really not that bad. In fact, it's got a lot of great scenes in it, and Ian McKellan is fantastic as Magneto. There's still plenty of bad acting and terrible, melodramatic dialogue, but what can you do, it's a comic book movie.
- This week's Onion is from The Future (2056, to be exact) and, though I speak as a person who has only read one or two of the articles in their entirety, most of it appears to be pretty hilarious. Keep an eye on the headlines flickering by in the boxes on the front page, and definitely check out Tonite on the Holovid; the details are what make this particularly funny, so read carefully. UPDATE: This is so awesome.
- Thanks to Sarcasmo for pointing me to this page. The pledge of allegiance to the Federation is pretty awesome, and I'm sincerely considering picking up a piece of merchandise branded with its lovely verbiage. And maybe it's because I'm a corny idealistic geek at heart, but this related story from the same blog almost made me cry.
- On the subject of the condo: the carpeting went well. My Dad and I installed a bunch of stuff around the place, too, and I'm feeling really pretty good about it. Now there's just the move on Friday, the cable guy on Saturday, and unpacking, and then it'll really be our home!
- Some of the movie night folks and I plan to go see Batman Begins tonight, in lieu of the regular movie night, which is cancelled. I've been looking forward to seeing this movie for a while, and most reviews of it I've seen have been quite positive, so I'm pretty excited. Hopefully I'll have time to post a review tomorrow.
