Leftovers |

Normally I try to avoid posting two posts so close together--you know, so you have a chance to digest the first one before I cram another one down your throat--but I had a couple things I just had to burble about immediately:- Well after most of my other Philly friends already started writing for Phillyst, I have finally gotten my first article (of many, I hope) posted. It's nothing special--just a preview of some upcoming flicks at the I-House. But that's not stopping me from being way, way too excited about it. (Btw, I've decided that I'm thankful to the editor for deleting the lame old joke that this article originally began with.)
- What with Tim Burton's unforgivably stupid and horrendous Planet of the Apes remake; his previous, only so-so stop-motion animated film, Nightmare Before Christmas; and the lackluster preview and ads for his latest film, I really wasn't looking forward to Corpse Bride very much. But this news of a "thunderous reception" from the crowd at Venice Film Festival sounds promising.
- I'd already read and seen quite a bit about Atom Egoyan's latest film, Where the Truth Lies, mainly because everybody keeps talking about the NC-17 rating it's going to get due to the threesome scene that Egoyan refuses to take out. But I wasn't really that interested in it until I watched this trailer (link courtesy The Movie Blog). Now I'm curious. There's some great talent involved here, it looks like a fascinating story, and I love Kevin Bacon's line about how hard it is to act like a nice guy when you're not. Plus, Egoyan's The Sweet Hereafter was really good...
