Batarangs and Fishamajigs
 by Fëanor

  • I'm going to see those crazy Decemberists tonight, and a small crew of movie night folks are coming with me. Check out my preview of the show on Phillyist.

  • This quiz (via babyraven) is pretty poorly written, but I like my result, so I'm posting it anyway:

    I Melt With You
    You're "Melt With You" by Modern English.

    || Which 80s Song Are You? ||
    brought to you by Quizilla

  • Thanks to the Pink Haired Girl for this story about robot fish. Awesome! I think one of them should be named Fishamajig. After the sandwich, of course.

  • Sarcasmo's Corner has all kinds of great links today, so rather than list them all here again, I'll just point you to her post.

  • While I'm posting stuff that people already posted, let me thank Yagathai for introducing me to one of the cheesiest and most shameful things I've ever seen/heard: Christopher Lee and an Italian metal band singing a song entitled (I kid you not) "The Magic of the Wizard's Dream." There's a video and everything, in which the camera spins around the singers as they gesticulate with laughable amounts of passion and seriousness.

    I'm not sure, but I think Yagathai actually considered this cool and not cheesy at all, so I expect to hear it from him in the comments.

  • People are really funny sometimes. Folks on the Isle of Portland, Dorset in the UK apparently think that mentioning the word "rabbit" is incredible bad luck (they say "furry things" or "underground muttons" instead; I wonder if they all refer to Macbeth as "the Scottish play," too?), as it might bring the marauding rodent down upon them, so they banned advertising for Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit from their island.

  • The next Dreamworks computer-animated feature looks like it might be fun. It's Over the Hedge, and it features various stars (including Bruce Willis, Garry Shandling, Steve Carrell, and William Shatner!) doing the voices of little rodents who are learning the joys of garbage-picking in the suburbs for the first time.
