This Post Is Eating Your Face
 by Fëanor

  • Hey, I was just posting about this movie The Fountain the other day, and now I found the trailer via The Movie Blog, and it's fantastic. Seriously, go check it out. This movie looks awesome.

  • More casting news for DreamWorks upcoming computer animated feature, Kung Fu Panda. It's got pandas, it's got kung fu, it's got computer animation, and now it's also got Jack Black (as the titular panda), Dustin Hoffman (as a panda master), Lucy Liu (as Master Viper), Jackie Chan (as Master Monkey), and Ian McShane (a British character actor, here playing a snow leopard villain). I am very pleased.

  • I mentioned these last night at movie night; I don't remember how I came across them originally, but they pop up in my iTunes party shuffle every once in a while and I always get a big kick out of them: DarkMateria's "Star Trek: The Next Generation" dance/electronica tracks, featuring much, much sampling from various episodes of the series. Download away, my friends.

  • I'm not a huge fan of Stephen King (although I'm currently working my way through his Dark Tower series, and I have read a number of his books), or of George Romero, for that matter (although I did love Dawn of the Dead), but I'm still vaguely intrigued by this news that Romero will be directing an adaptation of King's From a Buick 8 (which I thought was a short story collection, but maybe I'm wrong). Could be fun.

  • Oh, man, it's worth it for them to have created an awful, pointless film like Get Rich or Die Tryin', just so we can read fantastically bitter and nasty quotes about it. My favorites are the first two: "50 spends the film with one look on his face, and it's the look that you imagine a caveman would have when confronted with a cellphone." and "Think of it as Mariah Carey's Glitter, only with more murders." Got bless you, vicious film critics of America.

  • We here at Feanor and Poppy's Journal are big fans of lemurs. We're also big fans of John Cleese. And you may not know this about him, but John Cleese is a big fan of lemurs, too. Poppy and I have a copy of a special he did about them for PBS. He has also, if I remember correctly, contributed money to charities that try to protect them and preserve their habitats. All of that just makes it even cooler than it would otherwise already be that they've named a new species of lemur after John Cleese.

  • I try not to link to Salon too often, because they're a subscription site and I know many of you probably don't have subscriptions, but I couldn't resist posting this Tom the Dancing Bug comic. It's a riff on the School House Rock song about the bill, but in this case it's about the Constitution and the Supreme Court, and you know how we love the Supreme Court humor around here. Good stuff.
