Arbitrary, Volume Two |
by Fëanor |
- The Top 10 Greatest Cult Movies of All Time, as decided by a magazine poll. There are some odd choices (The Wizard of Oz???), but also some obvious ones (Rocky Horror Picture Show), and I love the top choice (The Wicker Man). Anyway, it's a list of movies, so I had no choice but to link to it. (Via The Movie Blog)
- A Connecticut Senator has proposed a law that would require movie listings to print not only the time the previews start, but also the time the actual movie starts. Finally, a useful piece of legislation! Which is not to say I wouldn't still show up early to see the previews. I love those things. (Via Digg)
- A Chicago library is going to start lending video games as well as books. I'm not sure how to feel about this. On the one hand, awesome! Video games! But on the other hand...at the library? That just don't seem right. (Via Digg)
- Play music with your scanner! Some commenters on the Digg page ask, "Why?" The answer is, of course, because we can.
- Trailers! The one I'm most interested in is the one for Lars von Trier's Manderlay, which looks to be even more discomforting than the horribly disturbing film it's a sequel to - Dogville (AKA Let's All Rape Nicole Kidman*).
- I usually try to avoid re-posting links to stuff Sarcasmo has already linked to, because let's face it, you've all gone to her site first anyway, but I just had to throw up a link to this totally fascinating animated music video (warning: long, slow download). The animation style is kind of a serious, dismemberment-filled (there it is again, Heather!), computer-enhanced version of the paper cut-out stuff Terry Gilliam did with Monty Python. The music is a crazy mash-up of experimental jazz, rap, pop, and dance beats. I like it all very much.
* I feel like maybe I went too far with this joke. Did I go too far? |
