Voluminous Volumes, Volume One |

Time for me to get caught up on some of the enormous amounts of content I've been saving up but haven't had time to post. Prepare yourselves!
- For those of who enjoyed Bring It On (c'mon, I know you're out there!), they're doing it again, but this time with gymnastics! It's called Stick It, and if you click on that title on the right side of this page, you can see a trailer for it. It looks like your typical fish-out-of-water/pretty teen/triumph-against-all-odds sports comedy, but loaded with bitchy cat fights. It could be good! You know, in a way that mainly involves renting it and hitting mute. But still! Did I mention that Jeff Bridges is in it. Jeff Bridges! (Via Cinematical)
- The Pee Tree. I don't really know what else to say about this one. (Via Digg)
- Okay, I know they're remaking everything these days, but I seriously never expected anybody to go so far as to remake Every Which Way But Loose, that wacky brawler/action/comedy/buddy movie that Clint Eastwood did in the '70s, wherein he co-starred with an orangutan named Clyde and basically went around punching people. There was actually also a sequel, believe it or not, called Any Which Way You Can, which was pretty much more of the same. Usually I'm against silly movies with monkey-type creatures in them, but I remember watching these years ago and actually finding them kind of amusing. Still, not Hollywood's usual remake material. The great thing is, they're in talks with The Rock to star in the Clint Eastwood role. It could be good!
- In connection with the premier of their first concert film, Awesome I F*ckin Shot That (which itself was fan-shot), the Beastie Boys had a contest wherein you had to, in two weeks, shoot and edit your own music video for one of two songs by them: "Shake Your Rump" or "Sabotage." You can find the winner (which is a video for the former song) here. I don't think it's really that great a video myself, and I actually prefer "Sabotage" of the two songs (although, admittedly, trying to do a video for "Sabotage" would be hard, seeing as how the original is so very excellent). Still, thought you might be interested. (Via Cinematical)
- You know I love the Coen brothers, and I try to see all their films, so I'm happy to post news about their next project, a film based on Cormac McCarthy's novel No Country for Old Men. The story involves a guy who goes out hunting and stumbles upon some dead bodies, some heroin, and a pile of drug money. He decides to take off with the cash, but of course pretty soon a bunch of folks come looking for it and the trouble really begins. Apparently it has a "western noir feel," which sounds right up the Coen brothers' strange and narrow alley. The further good news is that Tommy Lee Jones is in talks to star in the film, I presume as the guy who finds the cash, but I don't know. Awesome. I'll be keeping an eye out for this one.
- My friends: Dark Crystal 2. Yes, it will have Jim Henson puppets, although the sets and backgrounds will be CG. And it will be directed by creative genius, master of animation, and maker of The Clone Wars cartoons, Genndy Tartakovsky. One could say that I am excited about this. And one would be right.
