- Daphne from Scooby-Doo. Helloooo nurse!
- Annie Wu draws Dr. Mrs. The Monarch.
- A typically wonderful rendition of Emma Frost by Dan Hipp.
- Chris Samnee slaps down an amazing sketch of Captain America on Comic Twart. You know what that means: Cap is this week's selection! Awesome. (Also check out Samnee's wonderful, old school-style sketch of Dr. Doom and Mr. Fantastic fighting.)
- Arnold's returning to the Terminator franchise. On the one hand, I wouldn't mind having him back for old time's sake. But on the other hand, how do you explain a robot aging? And what else are you going to bring to the table besides Arnold? If there's not a good screenplay and a good director, it doesn't matter much who's in it. I mean, just look at the last Terminator movie. Or, on second thought, don't look at it. It's terrible!
- io9 takes a look at "The unlikely graffiti of Chernobyl."
- A dude who writes Syfy original movies developed a new way to make ice cream.
- The first official, HD trailer for Tarsem Singh's Greek mythology epic, Immortals. Oh my God, it looks so good. I love Singh's other films, and was really looking forward to seeing what he could do with this material and a big budget. Looks like he knocked it out of the park. These are the thrilling, wildly imaginative visuals I've come to expect from this filmmaker. I can't wait to see the complete, final product.
- This io9 article led me to these two interesting pieces: Michael Chabon's appreciation of a wonderful little book I haven't read in ages, The Phantom Toolbooth; and an analysis of why Julie Taymor's Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark failed.
- A couple of dudes were watching Game of Thrones, got into an argument over which of the characters was going to "win" (by which I guess they meant, take the throne and defeat all other challengers?), and it turned into a physical fight that ended with the police arresting one of them. Heh. That's silly, because clearly Jon and Dany are going to win, and I'll throw you through a window if you say anything different.
- The Beastie Boys are streaming their new album right here. You have to go and listen to it right now because it is fantastic.
- Hey, The Autumn Society is teaming up with Dreamworks Animation! Cool!
- I really enjoy the work of artist Katie Shanahan. Here's her version of Frank Miller's Robin.
- Fed up with toasters that don't give you even heating? Check out this round model!
- Water-ski alone with this skier-controlled tow boat. You know, if you're insane.
- A remote-controlled superhero.
- Oh, lord. A post-apocalyptic Zorro movie is on the way.
- Warner Bros. just added $9 million to the effects budget of Green Lantern, apparently as a last minute attempt to make sure the movie lives up to everyone's constantly rising expectations. I can't say this makes me feel particularly optimistic about this movie. You're trying to fix it by piling more effects on top? Yeah, that always works.
- In case you haven't seen it yet, here's the first official picture from the set of The Avengers, which started production the other day. Woo!
- Replacing the dialog in various scenes from Star Wars with depressing, existential French philosophy is surprisingly hilarious.
- Super Punch presents an illustration roundup and an image roundup.
- I posted these to Twitter the other day, but here they are again because they're awesome: cover art for a new limited series from Marvel called Red Skull.
- I love that we're bringing back the old William Castle theatrics and actually installing movie theater seats that shake you around for Super 8. Of course, they're probably doing this because they're desperate and feel they have to pull out all the stops anymore to get you away from your TV, your computer, and your smart phone and into the movie theater. But still.
- "Bacon-Fat Keyboard Lets Real Birds Tweet." It's about time!
- The art of Dushan Milic.

- Elisabeth Sladen, who played Sarah Jane Smith on Doctor Who, has passed away. Sadness. All the old Doctor Who actors seem to be going away.
- io9 gives us a glimpse of what Star Trek TV shows by William Shatner and Bryan Singer might have been like. Shatner's sounds awful, but Singer's has promise.
- Check out this cool 30-second ad for X-Men: First Class. This movie could work after all!
- This Super Punch link roundup includes the imaginary menu at Guy Fieri's Passover dinner (the article's pretty harsh to poor Guy Fieri, whom I rather like, but still pretty funny), as well as links to all the character fatalities, stage fatalities and babalities in Mortal Kombat 9. Not that Mortal Kombat was ever subtle or tasteful, but man, they've really gone overboard with this one. All the characters are constantly covered in blood and gore, all the women have huge breasts and skimpy clothing (even the four-armed monster woman!), and pretty much every fatality involves gory dismemberment. Ugh.
- Pretty cute Super Mario Bros. wedding video. (Via)
- Another Super Punch link roundup brings us an Artist-Formerly-Known-As-Prince-themed Slanket, and a Tron vs. MCP animated gif.

- Want to make a clever single-serving website, but don't want to buy the domain name and go to all the work of setting it up? Tom Boutell has the answer! Now I just need to come up with an idea for a clever single-serving website...
- Some wonderful Dune art. I particularly like the illustration of the "Fear is the mindkiller" speech.
- I'm just going to put this here: "Nanogenerators powered by your heartbeat could replace batteries in five years, say chemists."
- Heh. This Fake Science Tumblr is pretty funny. And it just got a book deal!
- The folks at io9 have seen the first 40 minutes of Cowboys and Aliens, and they give it a thumbs up.
- It seemed odd to me that Dillinger's son appeared in Tron: Legacy, but never really took part in the plot. This cool little video explains his presence by suggesting that he, and the Master Control Program, will indeed play a part in the next Tron film.
- Hey, a new entry on hipster puppies! And it's very funny!
- Enrique Alcatena does it again. Here are some amazing splash pages for a series following the adventures of a bad-ass dandy living in an alternate version of 19th century England.
- Noted Batmanologist Chris Sims highlights 10 of the more insane and hilarious illustrations from a crazy Batman storybook.
- More great posters from Reelizer, this time for Raising Arizona and Wild at Heart.
- Wondermark reveals what happens to you if you eat one of those silica gel packets that tell you not to eat them.
- Apparently you can now put out fires with magic wands that shoot electrical pulses. I love the future!
- A wonderful sci-fi character growth chart.
- Let's get all the comic book movie news out of the way in one bullet point. Supposedly a Justice League movie could be here by 2013, and we're looking at the strong possibility of X-Men 4 and 5. Christopher Nolan is guarding the ending to The Dark Knight Rises religiously, and the Batman franchise is likely to get rebooted yet again once Nolan is done with it. I guess because his version wouldn't really allow for a Justice League movie? Finally, some new images from X-Men: First Class which do not in any way assuage my trepidation about this film.
- Peter Jackson is sticking more ladies into The Hobbit. Which is a noble goal and all, but still... you're rewriting my Bible, man!!
- Your first look at Andy Serkis as Caesar in Rise of the Apes.
- Oh man, I love the Lando Lakes butter wrapper.
- Creative use of the Facebook Like button.
- The last image in this roundup is my favorite. But then, I'm always partial to magic doors.
- Holy crap, a new Bunnies reenactment! Be sure to stick around to the end and watch the deleted scenes.
- There could have been an edition of The Hobbit illustrated by Maurice Sendak. So sad this didn't happen.
- Amazingly detailed, fan-created Muppet Show playset.

- Dude! Official pics from the set of The Hobbit! It's Bag End!
- Awesome poster for a Lovecraft-inspired exhibition and art book called Dead and Dreaming.
- Let's Be Friends Again unveils the newest member of the Endless.
- Now we know who Joseph Gordon-Levitt is playing in The Dark Knight Rises, and it's not really anybody I would have expected. A very obscure character! But it does fit in very well with the story Nolan has been telling throughout his Batman films, so okay.
- In case you haven't seen it yet, Warren Ellis started another redesign thread on his message board, this one for the cover of Fantastic Four #1. Some pretty great stuff in there.
- Super Punch presents another nice illustration roundup.
- Speaking of Super Punch, here are a couple more entries in the site's X-Men: First Class poster redesign contest.
- Cinematical picked out some fun bits from an interview with Billy Dee Williams, including the hilarious revelation that the guy has an Ewok head in his closet.
- There's going to be an Office Space Printer Smash in Philly on April 26th. Bring your tech rage!
- Voting has begun for the second round of io9's March Movie Madness poll. I am deeply upset that The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) is currently losing to District 9. District 9 isn't a terrible movie, but it's not as good as some people say it is, and it's certainly nowhere near as excellent as the original TDtESS. That movie's a classic! C'mon people! Respect!
- What the hell is with all the Peter Pan movies in development?
- Michael Chabon might write Disney's Magic Kingdom. Huh. That movie just became more interesting to me.
- True Lies is a pretty okay movie, excepting a lot of the incredibly creepy first half, in which Arnold is basically torturing and abusing his wife for almost cheating on him after ignoring her for years. But a sequel? No, we do not need that.

- I was fascinated by Lazy Cakes when I first heard about them on NPR, so it was fun reading about The Onion A.V. Club's taste test of said relaxing snacks. The intrepid Club members also tried Jacked Up Java Brownies, which are basically the polar opposite of Lazy Cakes. I take it they didn't do this on the same day. They probably would have exploded.
- Remember how Super Punch is doing an X-Men: First Class poster contest? Here's the first batch of entries. Some really great stuff. Note that even the lamest one is better than the actual posters.
- More Aquaman redesigns! Some of these are quite cool. (Via)
- A very cool illustration roundup.
- A blog called Planet Pulp is currently doing a Pixar art jam. Nice! Their last subject was princesses, and also features lots of great stuff. I think I have to subscribe to this blog! (Via)
- I greeted the news that Darren Aronofsky is off The Wolverine with a hearty "NNNNOOOOO!!!" I was really looking forward to seeing what he'd do with the character. Ah, well.
- Superman Returns, though billed as a reboot of the franchise, was really a sort of follow-up to the previous films. But apparently Zack Snyder's Superman will ignore all other movies entirely. Which is probably just as well, really. Also, it looks like Kevin Costner is going to play Pa Kent. I can't decide how I feel about that. I'm not really much of a fan of Costner's anymore, and he doesn't seem quite old/venerable enough for the part. But we'll see. Costner's probably older than I realize...

- These are a bit old now, in internet terms, but here are the latest videos from the Game of Thrones blog.
- I was excited when I read this weekend about a guy supposedly discovering fossils of alien life in an asteroid. But I waited to post the story until I got more details and confirmation. I'm glad I did, because apparently it's bullcrap.
- Awesome Hungarian Star Wars posters.
- In case you missed this when I posted it to Twitter, Dune children's activity books that were created as tie-ins with the David Lynch film. It's hard to believe these are real and not a joke, but apparently they are!
- A couple of great recent entries on Black and WTF: Batman riding an elephant and a sign refuting the possession of a dinosaur.
- A couple of great recent entries on Reelizer: Clue and Dark City.
- Ron Moore's magic detective show is shaping up to be a real Battlestar Galactica reunion. James Callis, Tricia Helfer, and Jamie Bamber have all been cast in the show.
- A production company bought the rights to make more Blade Runner movies, and they want Christopher Nolan to direct. I'm really doubtful that we need more Blade Runner movies, as the original is a classic in and of itself and I don't see how you could add to it. But if we have to have more, Nolan would be a great choice. We'll see if he's interested.
- You've got to love Slinkachu's miniature installations.
- New Super Punch art contest! Make a poster for X-Men: First Class.
- The painful truth about Luke's Dad.
- My new desktop wallpaper. Aww yeah. The kid is getting me back into Sesame Street. He's partial to Elmo, but I think Oscar's my favorite. (Via)
- In case you haven't seen the awesome photo of Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull yet: click here.
- Entertaining trailer for Kung Fu Panda 2. Looking forward to this one.
- Here's our first look at Korra, the star of the new animated series set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's called Avatar: Legend of Korra.
- I know you probably can't even get through reading "steampunk Boba Fett" without yawning at this point, but go ahead and click through anyway. It's pretty cool.
