- New Hark! A Vagrant!
- A panda enters.
- There a whole lot of blogs involving artists redrawing/reimagining other art, but... well, here's another! It's a series of artists redoing all the character portraits from The Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe.
- One of my favorite artist/bloggers, Noelle Stevenson, has launched her fantasy web comic Nimona. It's pretty good!
- The very last Life In Hell strip was recently printed. Never really got into this strip too much, but definitely feels like the end of an era.
- This guy is redoing Blade Runner as a series of watercolor paintings, which is insane.
- A teaser trailer for the Monsters Inc. prequel, Monsters University. Looks like fun!
- A few drinks while you're pregnant is not going to permanently damage your baby. There's science now to back this up. So let's all calm down just a little bit.
- Here's a trailer for a movie called Prototype, which is about an experimental robot going rogue. Or a human being who turns into a robot? Or something? Looks neat.
- Apparently the best predictor of how well a movie will do at the box office is online buzz.
- There's going to be a Sesame Street movie! Who knows how this will turn out, but I'm cautiously optimistic.
- Apparently Hobotopia did a series of Lord of the Rings-related comics. Nice! The 2000th entry of that strip is coming up, which should be fun.
- Hey, Sin Titulo started updating again.
- The ISS re-cut The Avengers.
- A chart explaining the evolution of the alien as described in Prometheus. (Spoiler alert!)
- Crazy video of a dude killing bosses in Diablo III in ridiculously short amounts of time. Like, he polishes off the Skeleton King in less than a second. (Via)

- Dude, my friends wrote a book! You can buy it! You should buy it. Buy it now!
- One of my favorite of the recent posts on Reproductive Ryan Gosling. My very own poppy is a co-founder and contributor!
- Awww, look at the tiny Avengers! So tiny!
- A little goat! Hopping! On a bed!
- I love Marion, and I love Raiders of the Lost Ark, but... yeah. Baskets. *facepalm*
- Female Holmes and Watson.
- Blue And Bluer celebrates one of the great film classics, Grosse Pointe Blank.
- Some Game of Thrones humor.
- A little Daily Show for you.
- Heh. Poor Michelle.
- SANDWICH POLICE. That is all.
- Now here's something you can base a system of government on!
- Can't remember if I posted this before, but it's worth a repost if I didn't: Elmo and Grover as Street Fighters.
- An old script for an episode of the original Star Trek that was never filmed is going to get turned into a webisode by the New Voyages crew. Nice!
- There are birthday cake Oreos? Where can I get them?!
- Oh hey, it's that time of year again! March M.O.D.O.K. Madness!
- I kind of want this bird nest bed.
- Some pics from, and a new trailer for, Men in Black 3. I want to like this, because the original Men in Black is such a great movie, but... I just don't know.
- Another movie I want to like is John Carter. You can watch ten minutes of it right here. I was hoping to be really impressed by this, but despite some clever moments (and an inspired choice of when to cut short the clip), I could take or leave this movie.
- Some really cool props from Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor are up for auction.
- Cool Star Wars crayons.
- Cute Saruman figurine. All right, maybe cute isn't the right word, but whatever, I like it, is the point.
- Wow. Mike Mignola did a book cover for Heart of Darkness. Two great tastes that taste great together!
- I've mostly soured on the whole Simpson-izing thing, but these Simpsons versions of Scooby and Shaggy are fun.
- Look out! Tiger Batman!

- I've got a bunch of Song of Ice and Fire links for you today! First up is a list of ten characters io9 suspects they will leave out of season 2 of Game of Thrones. I'd be happy if they left out the rather horrendous story of poor Lollys, but I'd be really sad to lose Vargo Hoat, Aeron Greyjoy, and Craster. Next is a huge, amazing map of Westeros (via). Then we've got 11 versions of the excellent theme song from Game of Thrones. Finally, a few photos of the actress who will play Brienne in the series. She seems a little too pretty for the role, but George R.R. Martin says she looked the part when she came in to audition, so...
- If you haven't already seen it, here's our first look at Dori, Nori, and Ori from The Hobbit.
- A shirt that gives us a map of the Earth, if the Earth were reimagined as Super Mario World.
- A cool illustration blog, featuring covers for books from video game worlds. (Via)

- Want to make a clever single-serving website, but don't want to buy the domain name and go to all the work of setting it up? Tom Boutell has the answer! Now I just need to come up with an idea for a clever single-serving website...
- Some wonderful Dune art. I particularly like the illustration of the "Fear is the mindkiller" speech.
- I'm just going to put this here: "Nanogenerators powered by your heartbeat could replace batteries in five years, say chemists."
- Heh. This Fake Science Tumblr is pretty funny. And it just got a book deal!
- The folks at io9 have seen the first 40 minutes of Cowboys and Aliens, and they give it a thumbs up.
- It seemed odd to me that Dillinger's son appeared in Tron: Legacy, but never really took part in the plot. This cool little video explains his presence by suggesting that he, and the Master Control Program, will indeed play a part in the next Tron film.
- Hey, a new entry on hipster puppies! And it's very funny!
- Enrique Alcatena does it again. Here are some amazing splash pages for a series following the adventures of a bad-ass dandy living in an alternate version of 19th century England.
- Noted Batmanologist Chris Sims highlights 10 of the more insane and hilarious illustrations from a crazy Batman storybook.
- More great posters from Reelizer, this time for Raising Arizona and Wild at Heart.
- Wondermark reveals what happens to you if you eat one of those silica gel packets that tell you not to eat them.
- Apparently you can now put out fires with magic wands that shoot electrical pulses. I love the future!
- A wonderful sci-fi character growth chart.
- Let's get all the comic book movie news out of the way in one bullet point. Supposedly a Justice League movie could be here by 2013, and we're looking at the strong possibility of X-Men 4 and 5. Christopher Nolan is guarding the ending to The Dark Knight Rises religiously, and the Batman franchise is likely to get rebooted yet again once Nolan is done with it. I guess because his version wouldn't really allow for a Justice League movie? Finally, some new images from X-Men: First Class which do not in any way assuage my trepidation about this film.
- Peter Jackson is sticking more ladies into The Hobbit. Which is a noble goal and all, but still... you're rewriting my Bible, man!!
- Your first look at Andy Serkis as Caesar in Rise of the Apes.
- Oh man, I love the Lando Lakes butter wrapper.
- Creative use of the Facebook Like button.
- The last image in this roundup is my favorite. But then, I'm always partial to magic doors.
- Holy crap, a new Bunnies reenactment! Be sure to stick around to the end and watch the deleted scenes.
- There could have been an edition of The Hobbit illustrated by Maurice Sendak. So sad this didn't happen.
- Amazingly detailed, fan-created Muppet Show playset.

- A nice piece of Super Mario Bros.-themed art featured on Drawn.
- Hey, GRRM and Paris finally got married! Also, another new behind-the-scenes video from HBO's "Making Game of Thrones" blog. This one is sort of a travelogue of Westeros, giving us a quick sketch of each of the various different realms. Pretty exciting!
- GeekDad provides a visual roundup of the action figures and statues at the recent 2011 Toy Fair.
- A sign that fails to be reassuring.
- Slave Leia will always be an icon of the geek world. Here's Jessica Rabbit in the slave Leia costume, and an otherwise rather dumb and unimaginative music video that features Alessandra Torressani dressed as slave Leia.
- The fantasy world map.
- A lot of the trailers I've seen so far for Thor have not impressed me, but this one did.
- Steve Kloves, who co-wrote all of the Harry Potter films, has been hired to help polish the script for Akira.
- Here's a cool project: making figures along the line of the old MUSCLE toys. I used to love those things. (Via)
- Super Punch showcases some great art pieces by Tom Fowler.
- Robocop is not done his good work in Detroit! Francesco Francavilla is auctioning off an illustration of the fellow to help feed the city. (Via)
- Hey. Cool bat.
- The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets' brilliant concept album, Spaceship Zero, has been out for a while, but they just finally got around to putting together a snazzy video for "20 Minutes of Oxygen," one of the excellent (if deeply depressing) tracks from the record.
- A new Toy Story short will premiere in front of the new Muppets movie. This is apparently a different short from the one about Barbie and Ken going on vacation.
- GeekDad looks back on 25 years of Zelda. The original Legend of Zelda is still one of the best video games of all time.

- Evan Shaner wishes a happy birthday to Comic Twart by posting a representative image for every theme chosen in the blog's first year.
- Dan Hipp illustrates one of my favorite moments from Return of the Jedi.
- Somebody made a board game version of a tower defense game. Sounds like it's pretty cool, too.
- Baby-sized TARDIS! I feel like Griffin should have one of these.
- I've been reading a collection of old Russian folk tales, so it was interesting to find this post about an upcoming novel that re-envisions the stories of old Russian folk figures. You can read an excerpt here. It takes the elements of Russian folk tales - the repetitions (often in threes), the moments of sudden and inexplicable magic - and analyzes and re-imagines them in the context of communism and socialism. It's absolutely fantastic.
- Now that a mad scientist is cloning a woolly mammoth, io9 has suggestions for some other extinct animals we might want to bring back.
- Fringe fans just have to love this "Walter is my homeboy" T-shirt. Because you know what? Walter is my homeboy.
- Good news, everyone! NBC has ordered a pilot for Ron Moore's police show set in a world ruled by magic - Precinct 17.
- Sounds like Marvel is once again making an attempt to turn Black Panther into a movie.
- The bikini- and carnage-filled trailer for the DVD/blu-ray release of the modern classic, Sharktopus, complete with catchy beach rock theme song.
- As the entire world knows by now, Anne Hathaway will be Catwoman and Tom Hardy will be Bane in the next Batman movie. It took me a while to mull this news over. I haven't seen Anne Hathaway in much. She seems a bit goody-goody to play Catwoman, but hey, she's an actress! She should be able to pretend to not be goody-goody, the way actresses do. Tom Hardy seems a bit of an odd choice, too, for a monstrous, wrestler-type villain, but Tom Hardy is awesome, and also pretty damn ripped, so I think he can pull it off. Plus, Christopher Nolan's instincts are pretty damn good as far as these things are concerned (anybody remember Heath Ledger, the best Joker ever?), so I'm cautiously optimistic.
- The 1600th episode of Laugh-Out-Loud Cats is pretty mind-blowing, you guys.
- Dark Horse/Mike Mignola need to hire Enrique Alcatena to draw a Hellboy book RIGHT NOW. I'm just saying. This guy is GOOD.
- Someone has invented a game that's a combination of bowling and billiards. That's actually kind of vaguely brilliant.
- Here's a video of someone throwing boiling water into the air somewhere where it's so cold that the water instantly evaporates (or turns to snow, or something - I don't know, I was an English major, not a science... guy).
- You can simulate a fake incoming call with Samsung phones? Hey, I have a Samsung phone!
- A guy attached a tiny video camera to some arrows and shot them with his bow! Nice!
- More and better images from the X-Men: First Class movie.
- Blastr has compiled an impressive list of 83 differences between Fringe's alternate universe and ours.
- Muppets inserted into 2001: A Space Odyssey.
- Cinematical gives us a rundown of at least 13 movies that you can expect to see ads for during the Super Bowl.
- It sounds like Johnny Depp may be taking Robert Downey Jr.'s place in Sam Raimi's Wizard of Oz movie.
- Even for a non-American Idol fan like myself, this recap of the latest American Idol is truly entertaining. I love the quick, spot-on critique of those horrible Bing ads, too.
- Btw, don't worry, George Lucas wasn't really serious about that thing about the world ending in 2012. He claims. He probably just wants to make sure no one goes looking for his secret escape spaceship.

- Season of the Witch stars Nicolas Cage, and will therefore almost certainly be terrible. Still, the trailer is entertaining, and it looks like the movie could be, as well, in a crazy, over-the-top kind of way.
- Casting rumors have been swirling around the next Batman movie since practically before the last Batman movie was released, but here's another which sounds like it might be vaguely true: a handful of great actresses are being considered for two female roles, one a love interest, and the other a villain. Hmm...
- Ooh, a new White Stripes album could be on the way. Always good news.
- The upcoming Muppet movie (the one with the classic Muppets, not the noir one) just beefed up its cast big time, adding Jack Black, Donald Glover, Jane Lynch, Danny Trejo, Eric Stonestreet, John Krasinski, Ed Helms, Lady Gaga, and Paul Rudd. Lady Gaga will be playing herself (which makes sense; she's practically a Muppet already), Lynch will play a prison guard, Trejo will play her prisoner, and Zach Galifianakis (who was already on board) will play a character called Hobo Jo. We're also getting a new Muppet character named Walter.
- Save the Words! Adopt a word that's fallen into disuse and keep it alive by using it. Cool idea.
- A movie about Merlin set in modern times is on the way. (Oddly, I just watched a special last night about Merlin throughout history.)
- Some guy remade Super Mario Bros. 3 in the New Super Mario Bros. engine. Woah.
- A tattooed lady in an R2-D2 swimsuit with a puppy and a Darth Vader iPhone. You're welcome.
- The stop-motion history of stop-motion.

- Above, Cookie Monster performs metal. (Via Tom)
- Hayao Miyazaki says if Studio Ghibli's upcoming film, Arietty the Borrower, doesn't do well at the box office, the studio may have to be shut down. I can't tell you how sad that makes me. Especially since Miyazaki says if they do have some box office successes, he'd make a sequel to Porco Rosso set during the Spanish Civil War, and I need to see that movie. Everybody go see Arietty the Borrower when it comes out, for God's sake!!! (Via Camden)
- Speaking of Miyazaki, you can watch his Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind online for free. And you should! I also highly recommend the manga. (Via)
- Yeah, I gotta admit, this new Cee-Lo track that's going around is pretty fantastic. FYI, the lyrics are NSFW, and since the video linked here is just the lyrics printed on the screen, it's pretty much NSFW all the way around. (Via Amy)
- A creative use for old ink cartridges.
- Alternate universe movie posters. As in, movies from alternate universes, not movies set in alternate universes. I so wish I could see The Gunslinger starring Clint Eastwood, Ricky Shroder, and Jack Nicholson. Also, Leonardo DiCaprio as Kid Kthulu? Bruce Lee as Neo? Brilliant.
- Sufjan Stevens put out a new EP that you can download for $5, or stream for free. I'm listening now! Can't say I'm all that impressed so far, but I'm still making my way through the first track, which is almost 12 minutes long. Good old Sufjan. (Via)
- Paramount is giving a live-action Ninja Turtles movie another go for some reason. They didn't so much like the first draft of the screenplay, however, so they're getting another draft from the guys who did second draft work on Iron Man.
- An amusing Lord of the Rings-themed sketch.
- Everybody knows what a No. 2 pencil looks like, but what about all the other No. pencils? Here's a handy graphic.
- Pretty cool ad for Metroid: Other M. Although, considering that I can't find the time or the energy to play the Metroid games I already own, I probably won't be getting this one.
- Rumor has it that Shia LaBeouf says a fifth Indiana Jones film is already being written, and that the concept for it sounds "crazy" and "really cool" to him. Uh huh. Don't count your fridges before they're nuked!
- Bryan Singer revealed some details about the upcoming X-Men: First Class movie. It'll be set in the '60s, so the mutants' struggle can be easily compared with the civil rights movement; the costumes will be comic bookish; the Hellfire Club will be the villains, with Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw (!!!); other characters featured: Emma Smith, Azazel, Moira McTaggert, Beast, Darwin, Raven Darkholme, Banshee, Havok, Mystique, Charles Xavier, and a female version of Angel. Say what? Well... okay then.
- An early review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. The reviewer is generally positive, and one of his only problems with the movie is a complaint he had with the book, as well, and seeing as how I had almost no complaints with the book, I'm okay with that.

- I was just talking yesterday about how busy Michel Gondry is, but apparently he's even busier than I thought; he's also working on some kind of crazy thing with Bjork: "We have a very ambitious project, a sort of scientific musical. (It's a movie), but maybe more for museums. Like a 40 minute IMAX project in 3D." (Via)
- Some photos from the set of Green Lantern. The power ring supposedly appears, but it's so blurry and far away it's hard to tell. (Via)
- Pics of some of the amazing architecture on display at the Shanghai Expo.
- More fun pieces from that Sidekicks and Henchmen art show.
- Details and impressions on the "Mexican District 9," Monsters.
- Syfy is considering doing another Battlestar Galactica spin-off show. Also, they've got two superhero-related shows in the works. One is called Three Inches, and it's a tongue-in-cheek, postmodern superhero story about a guy who can move things with his mind, but only three inches. He joins up with a bunch of folks with similarly questionable powers to make a super team. The other show is called Alphas, and also involves a super team, but that's about all that's known so far.
- A few more details on that prequel of The Thing.
- Looks like Jason Segel's Muppet movie is moving forward, and he'll be starring in it.
- Fun with Alien! Some great cosplay, and cool vintage toy packaging (it's hard to believe they made Alien toys and marketed them to kids). (Via)
- Chris Sims' ode to a particularly odd episode of G.I. Joe is a joy to read.
- Supposedly the MacGruber movie is actually pretty good.
- Not a review of Neil Marshall's Centurion, just a rundown of the kind of movie it is.
