- Some pics from, and a new trailer for, Men in Black 3. I want to like this, because the original Men in Black is such a great movie, but... I just don't know.
- Another movie I want to like is John Carter. You can watch ten minutes of it right here. I was hoping to be really impressed by this, but despite some clever moments (and an inspired choice of when to cut short the clip), I could take or leave this movie.
- Some really cool props from Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor are up for auction.
- Cool Star Wars crayons.
- Cute Saruman figurine. All right, maybe cute isn't the right word, but whatever, I like it, is the point.
- Wow. Mike Mignola did a book cover for Heart of Darkness. Two great tastes that taste great together!
- I've mostly soured on the whole Simpson-izing thing, but these Simpsons versions of Scooby and Shaggy are fun.

- The first official photo of Henry Cavill as Superman, the first official photo of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, and a very unofficial, Game of Thrones-mashed-up 'shop of the Catwoman photo (that was quick).
- This trailer for the upcoming animated series Tron: Uprising features lots of cool concept art, an exciting video clip, and bits of the Tron: Legacy soundtrack in the background - a soundtrack which, I may have already mentioned here, I am obsessed with to the point of mania.
- The new Ultimate Spider-Man is half-black and half-Hispanic. For some people, this poses a problem. Those people are wrong.
- Wondermark is very strange, and I love it.
- Steampunk Samus Aran arm cannon!
- NASA is sending LEGO minifigs representing Jupiter, Juno, and Galileo to Jupiter.
- Game of Thrones as a (NSFW) 8-bit (or is that 16-bit?) RPG.
- John "Walter Bishop" Noble is hosting a new show for the Science Channel investigating true stories of fringe science. It's called Dark Matters.
- Joe Quesada's Twitter feed isn't always all that interesting, but the other day he went through his process for creating a piece of art for the 50th anniversary of the Fantastic Four, and it was really cool. Plus, the piece came out great. Luckily, Comics Alliance collected the entire sequence of tweets.

- The dude who made Gattaca is making another dystopian sci-fi film, this one starring Amanda Seyfried and Justin Timberlake. Exciting!
- I am sad to say I am not doing my part to support Terriers. It's a great show, but I can't get myself together to actually watch it at all. Don't be like me! Save Terriers!
- An amusing comparison of Lord Voldemort and Lord Vader.
- Fun stuff I already posted to Twitter: a first look at Sherlock Holmes 2, and Darren Aronofsky on why he's doing The Wolverine and what it'll be like.
- If you haven't heard yet, people other than Joss Whedon are doing a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie that will reboot the franchise. I'm willing to check it out, although I think the chances of it being any good are very, very low. Anyway, here are Mr. Whedon's thoughts on the project.
- A couple of cool pieces of art by Chris King.
- Photos of LEGO creations featuring creative ways to kill mimes. Don't worry, it's an art contest, and no actual mimes were injured or killed. (Via)
- Game|Life gives a very positive review to Donkey Kong Country Returns, saying it "feels a lot like Metroid with monkeys." Intriguing!

- Impressive art, of the sci-fi/fantasy variety, via io9.
- WB's chairman and CEO says the company's getting ready to make a Sherlock Holmes sequel, and film adaptations of The Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Mad Magazine. A Holmes sequel was inevitable, but still welcome news. I really can't imagine anything good could come of a Mad Magazine movie. And we've been told before that these particular superheroes were going to get movies and been disappointed. But I'll hope for the best.
- Amusing fake covers for imaginary Batman team-up adventures.
- Rumor has it ABC could be bringing Alias back. Well, sort of; this would be a new version, borrowing ideas from the original, but jettisoning the Rambaldi prophecy plot line. I liked Alias for a while, and even though the Rambaldi stuff was often a little hard to believe, it also added an extra bit of - unexpected, but much appreciated - fantasy/sci-fi spice to the show. I'm not sure I'd be all that into another plain old spy show, especially since every network on Earth is already preparing one for next season for some reason.
- Another cool Thor illustration. Thor!
- Dominic West will play Tony Stark's father, Howard Stark, in Captain America. I really like that they're trying to tie these movies together and create all these connections.
- The evil counterpart to the original glow-in-the-dark Tron hoodie now exists. I want them both!!
- The eight worst restaurant meals in America in 2010. Naturally the number 1 item is one of my most favorite things to eat. Sigh. (Via)
- Do not click here if you wish to remain unspoiled for the film version of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! These are photos of Harry and Ginny with their age makeup on, for the epilogue scenes. Oh, and beware the giant, annoying popup ad. (Via)
- A Dreamworks artist draws his 30 favorite Star Wars characters. I love his exaggerated, cartoony style and the old school trading card presentation. (Via)
- A collection of backgrounds from Looney Tunes cartoons.
- James McAvoy will play a young Professor Charles Xavier in X-Men: First Class. Which sounds crazy, because Professor Xavier was never as young-looking as McAvoy in the comics, but apparently the film won't really be based on the comic book series from which it takes its name, but will instead look at the origin stories of Xavier and Magneto. Huh.

- BBC Worldwide and PBS' Masterpiece Theatre will co-produce a new TV series called Sherlock which will feature a 21st century spin on the famous detective, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman as Watson. (Via)
- Fascinating story about a temple discovered in Turkey that rewrites what we know about the history of humanity. It's 7,000 years older than the Great Pyramid and 6,000 years older than Stonehenge. The archaeologist in charge of the dig thinks it's proof that religion came first, then civilization. Also fascinating: a scientist discovered the site years ago, but walked away from it when he simply couldn't fit it into his view of the world. Cognitive dissonance to the extreme! (Via)
- Incredible papercraft recreation of Howl's Moving Castle. Oddly similar: a gigantic walking city made out of LEGO.
- Nic Cage as the Norwegian curling team. Have I mentioned that I'm obsessed with curling now? Because I'm obsessed with curling now.
- io9 lists 18 upcoming TV shows that could save small-screen sci-fi. I hope they're right, because all the good TV shows seem to be going away. Anyway, a lot of these sound neat.
- io9 gives a good review to the new DC animated movie, Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths. Looking forward to it!
- Mark Strong is officially Sinestro.
- They're making Missile Command into a 3D action/adventure film. Will it end the way the game always did: with a huge explosion and the words "THE END?"
- One of my favorite entries on Covered in a while.
- Potato chips with real bacon! I'd buy that for a dollar!
- John Carpenter returned to directing after a ten year absence to make The Ward, a horror flick about a bunch of young women disappearing one by one in an insane asylum. Sounds pretty cliche, but maybe it'll have something new going on that's not obvious from a plot summary.
- Yet more fun toys from the Toy Fair, including Bubo and Lord of the Rings bobbleheads (seriously - a Sauron bobblehead), and a Klingon disruptor.
- A used car (and droid) dealership. (Via)

- Here's an amusing online app which you can use to make it look like you're updating your Facebook status via various outrageous methods, including mental telepathy, toilet, and your mom. (Via)
- Dude figured out how to control a whole band's worth of percussion instruments using a couple of Wii Remotes. Pretty amazing stuff.
- Ian McShane as Blackbeard? YES. I would totally watch the next Pirates movie if they do this.
- B-Side is a company that helps run film festivals, providing various handy online scheduling gadgets. I kind of liked some of the stuff they had to offer when I used it during the Philadelphia Film Festival. Sadly, B-Side is now no more.

- Above, please see how to open a bottle of beer with another bottle of beer. I suspect this is harder to do than this guy makes it look (especially for someone like me, who sometimes has a hard time opening a bottle with the device actually designed for opening bottles), but worth a try should the situation arise. - I feel strongly that this sport should have been included in Wii Sports Resort. There could be three players: two to play table tennis, and one to fly the plane!
- One of my favorite art blogs does a piece on Mervyn Peake. I can't understand any of it, of course, because it's in Spanish, but there is a lot of great Peake art included.
- Cool superhero caps.
- Super, the upcoming superhero comedy directed by James Gunn and starring Rainn Wilson, picked up a whole bunch of new cast members, all of whom are unfamiliar to me... except the mighty Nathan Fillion. This movie just got a lot more interesting.
- Yes, this straight-to-DVD Sherlock Holmes movie is probably garbage... but it's steampunk Sherlock Holmes versus a bunch of monsters attacking London! And the monsters seem to include a T. Rex, a dragon, and a giant squid! That's hot.
- Peter Sarsgaard is in talks to play psychic, meteor-powered supervillain Hector Hammond in Green Lantern. Also, the Spider-Man musical is back on, with financing in place and a start date of this fall.
- Photos of some really cool custom nesting dolls.
- Hooray for amigurumi Metroid! It looks very cute while it's sucking the life out of you. (Via)
- The folks at Underwire put together a pretty excellent list of movies they'd like to see get a 3D upgrade, including some unexpected but clever choices.
- Google has learned some unsettling things about Chinese cyber attacks and is considering pulling out of the country entirely. Wow! That is pretty huge, man. (Via)
