- Three wondrous new clips from the Syfy original Sharktopus.
- Cthulhu stars in a parody of the recent Old Spice commercials.
- Here's the trailer for Tangled, Disney's take on the story of Rapunzel. Looks pretty bland and cliche, but maybe the trailer is misleading. (Via)
- David Fincher has gotten himself a similar deal to M. Night Shyamalan's "Night Chronicles" thing, except his is for crime thrillers. Could be fun.
- The trailer for Castelvania: Lords of Shadow is lengthy, fantastical, impressive, and loaded with visually stunning and imaginative monsters, places, weapons, and events - but it also appears to be all cinematics. There's no clue as to what the actual game play is like.
- Every time I think they've added the stupidest character name possible to the Star Wars universe, they come up with an even stupider one. Case in point, the name of Darth Maul's brother, to be introduced in the upcoming season of Clone Wars: Savage Opress. Gah! (Via)
- I've really enjoyed pretty much all the Super Punch tarot cards so far. Here are a few more.
- Here's a book trailer for The Making of The Empire Strikes Back. I still can't quite get over the vague feeling that the whole concept of a book trailer is ridiculous, but this one is pretty cool.

(Meta Note: Trying out a new recurring feature here. It'll look familiar to those of you who followed my work on Phillyist. Let me know what you think of the name and the format. Thanks!)

- I embedded that video above because I didn't think you'd believe what I'm about to tell you otherwise. Even after watching it, I'm not sure I believe it. But apparently KFC has a new product called the Double Down Sandwich which has two pieces of fried chicken as the "bun," and bacon and cheese as the contents. Now I'm not saying I wouldn't eat it, but... damn. That just might be going a step too far.
- Cast announcements for the HBO TV pilot of Game of Thrones are always exciting to me, given my great love of the books, but seeing as how I'd never heard of a lot of the folks mentioned in the most recent announcement, this illustrated list of the actors and their roles is very handy. So far all the casting seems to be spot on! Man, I hope this thing turns out good. (Via)
- A cute illustration depicting each of our solar system's planets as weird little people. (Via)
- Garth Vader! 'Nuff said. (Via)
- A couple of brilliant parodies of comic book covers involving Superman and Lois Lane. (Via, via)
- "The Adventures of Lord Mario" is hilarious and shockingly violent. (Via)
- Wired Science answers a question I bet you didn't even think to ask: what are the strangest things that have ever been pulled out of peat bogs?
- One of my favorite video games ever is Diablo 2, so I'm more than a little excited about the upcoming sequel, Diablo 3. And what with BlizzCon going on right now, some pretty exciting stuff about the D3 is showing up online. The new Monk character class was just announced, and Joystiq has a video of the Monk in action, plus a bunch more screenshots. The Monk looks bad-ass, and this game looks beautiful - and crazy. I was assuming I'd be playing D3 on my PC, but Blizzard is saying consoles haven't been ruled out as potential platforms for the game.
- Wow. Today's Pulp of the Day is pretty much a parody of itself.
- A chain mail chess set. Wicked.
