- Dan Hipp does another Tintin mashup, this time with Tron.
- I love the work of remix artist Pogo. Here he (she?) takes on the extremely weird H.R. Pufnstuf.
- The Onion A.V. Club gives a surprisingly positive review of the new Mortal Kombat. Now I'm intrigued!
- More cool posters on Reelizer: Inception and Star Wars.
- Cool vintage behind-the-scenes image from the making of the original Star Trek TV series.
- Nintendo has officially announced that the successor to the Wii console will be released in 2012. The company goes on to say it'll already have a playable version ready for this year's E3 in June. So by next year, I will no longer own a "next gen" console - just a last gen one. I'll be out of the loop! Until Griffin demands whatever the newest thing is, of course, and I'll have no choice to meet his demands. No choice, I tell you!
- Amusing buttons.
- Classy animated gifs. No, really! (Via)
- Clever ad that only becomes visible when wet.
- LEGO, pirate version of Shuttle Tyderium.
- If you "like" My Morning Jacket's Facebook page, you can listen to a couple of tracks off their upcoming album, Circuital. "Holdin' on to Black Metal" is pretty damn fantastic.
- I'm usually not a huge fan of papercraft, but this papercraft replica of Howl's moving castle is impressive.

- Elisabeth Sladen, who played Sarah Jane Smith on Doctor Who, has passed away. Sadness. All the old Doctor Who actors seem to be going away.
- io9 gives us a glimpse of what Star Trek TV shows by William Shatner and Bryan Singer might have been like. Shatner's sounds awful, but Singer's has promise.
- Check out this cool 30-second ad for X-Men: First Class. This movie could work after all!
- This Super Punch link roundup includes the imaginary menu at Guy Fieri's Passover dinner (the article's pretty harsh to poor Guy Fieri, whom I rather like, but still pretty funny), as well as links to all the character fatalities, stage fatalities and babalities in Mortal Kombat 9. Not that Mortal Kombat was ever subtle or tasteful, but man, they've really gone overboard with this one. All the characters are constantly covered in blood and gore, all the women have huge breasts and skimpy clothing (even the four-armed monster woman!), and pretty much every fatality involves gory dismemberment. Ugh.
- Pretty cute Super Mario Bros. wedding video. (Via)
- Another Super Punch link roundup brings us an Artist-Formerly-Known-As-Prince-themed Slanket, and a Tron vs. MCP animated gif.

- Sam Bosma draws frogs and kaiju.
- I feel like I've seen this person's work in a comic book, but maybe it just reminds me of somebody else's art. Anyway, it's good stuff.
- Holy crap, Game of Thrones got renewed already! I'm guessing the numbers for the premiere were good.
- io9 decides to answer the question, "How big an explosion could you realistically survive?" The answer is, not a very big one. Most of the explosions people survive in movies and on TV you wouldn't actually survive in real life. Which is disappointing, but not all that surprising. Best advice? Run as far away as you can as fast as you can.
- Listen to a BBC recording from 1939 of a British soldier playing King Tutankahmun's 3,000-year-old trumpets. (Via)
- Here's the first officially released clip from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. It looks like it's probably the opening scene. I can't say it's particularly impressive - I'm particularly unenthusiastic about Harry's final line there - but it's okay.
- Rockne S. O'Bannon, creator of Farscape, says he's doing a new series for Syfy. He sounds very excited about it. io9 speculates it might be an Alien Nation reboot. Regardless, it's intriguing news.
- Video of a guy demonstrating a mini-crossbow he made. It's got pretty impressive firepower, and he's a pretty good shot with it.
- Other video game characters audition their own rejected Mortal Kombat fatalities.
- Spock laser-etched onto a matza. (Btw, why is there no single, agreed-upon spelling for matza? Let's get together on this, people.)
- Some of these Super Mario propaganda posters are pretty good.
- The official announcement of which characters Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be playing in The Dark Knight Rises. They sound like nobodies, but as io9 points out, Christopher Nolan probably has surprises in store for us.

- Hey, it's Mumm-Ra the ever-living! What a guy! I always loved that subtitle, "the ever-living."
- The latest entry on Making Game of Thrones is about designing the throne room.
- Oh man, Indiana Jones and the Curse of the Cosmic Cube would be so awesome. Way better than Crystal Skull, surely.
- Paramount just greenlit a movie version of The Martian Chronicles. I'm not sure it'd be possible to make a good film adaptation of that book - it seems uniquely... bookish; delicate and lyrical and easily ruined - but I'd be excited to see someone try.
- Here's the first episode of the new web series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy. But yeah, don't bother watching it unless you're really curious or a superfan. It's composed almost entirely of cliches. Also, if you're going to shoot a person with a gun, why would you move really close to that person first? You've got a gun! It hits people from far away! Sigh.
- Here's a cool thing: a World of Warcraft player hit the level cap without ever killing anything, and completing only one quest. The person apparently leveled up almost entirely via exploring and discovering.
- AT-AT for America seems like a worthy cause. Let's do this, people!
- The art of banana carving.
- I posted this to Twitter a while back, but it's worth another link: George R.R. Martin's top 10 fantasy films. A lot of great picks here. I'm especially excited about the inclusion of Ladyhawke, a little film from the '80s that my brother and I seriously adored when we were younger.
- Nesting robots.
- Oh sweet lord. Taco Bell is testing taco shells made from nacho cheese Doritos. Is this disgusting or deeply desirable? I can't seem to decide. All I know is, I'd definitely eat one. (Via)
- Have you seen this one-of-a-kind, fan-made Tron light cycle board game yet? Great concept, wonderful execution.
- "Comedian Brett Kreischer is apparently in the habit of leaving surprises for the hotel maid."
- LEGO mechs.
- Hey, Warren Ellis is going to write a couple more novels! The first one will be called Gun Machine. I really enjoyed Crooked Little Vein, so this is good news. Plus, you know, Warren Ellis. (Via)
- Oh no! One of the blogs I read - Download Squad - is closing up shop. Sadness.
- Heh.

- Game of Thrones family sigil desktop wallpapers!! Awesome. It's too bad that I hate all the Greyjoys (especially Theon, whose chapters I can barely read, he's such a complete dick), because their sigil and words are so excellent.
- Dan Hipp has been at it again, posting all kinds of amazing illustrations on his blog, including a Predator fighting a Wookiee, a poster for The Wolverine lamenting the film that could have been, and a truly fantastic Tintin/Alien mashup image.
- Check out the teaser for Daniel Radcliffe's next film, a period ghost story called The Woman in Black.
- The next Superman movie has its General Zod.
- Famous sci-fi scenes recreated with a cast of peeps.
- I was going to post links to all the coolest recent additions to Reelizer, but there are too many. Just go there and look around yourself.
- A great Beetlejuice illustration.
- The second item here purports to reveal the truth behind Olive Garden's claims that it sends its chefs to Italy to learn real Italian cooking. Unsubstantiated, obviously, but certainly seems believable.
- A selection of neat nesting dolls from a recent art show.
- You're stuck on an important video conference call with the Romulan ambassador, but you desperately need to go to the bathroom. What do you do? As usual, Riker has the solution. (Via)
- The first trailer for Lars von Trier's Melancholia (which is slightly NSFW, due to brief, distant nudity). It's technically a sci-fi film, as there's an important plot element involving a mysterious planet suddenly appearing and heading for Earth, but it seems to be much more about relationships and people being really emotional. Looks intense.
- A trailer for the new Mortal Kombat web series, based on that video that went viral a while back. Sadly the trailer is nowhere near as cool and exciting as the original video was. It's just a rather clumsy fight scene.
- Looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger's getting back into movies in a big way.
- Some very nice Thor art on this blog. (Via)

- All Terrain Ice Cream Truck!
- A scientist is going to clone a mammoth! On the one hand: awesome!!! On the other hand: the movies have taught us that this is certain to go horribly awry so... hmm.
- Heh. Here's a fun X-Men family tree.
- A man in southern Georgia is using webcams, a bunch of shotguns, and remote controls to kill wild hogs over the internet.
- Remember that cool Mortal Kombat video that went around the internet a while back? Warner Premiere has green-lit a 10-episode web series based on it. Nice!
- So, that Alien prequel that's been in development forever is not happening after all, which is sad, but apparently Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelof are going to salvage what they can from the script and turn it into a different movie called Prometheus, still starring Noomi Rapace.
- A Wrinkle in Time reenacted in 90 seconds by a cast of mostly kids.
- Joseph Conrad co-wrote a sci-fi novel with Ford Madox Ford called The Inheritors. It's about people from the Fourth Dimension scheming to occupy the Earth. Who knew?? Anyway, you can download the whole thing for free right here. (Via)
- Ron Howard talked a bit about his Dark Tower project when he appeared on Howard Stern's radio show recently, providing a few more details about how the story would be split up between the movies and the miniseries, and also confirming that Viggo Mortensen and Javier Bardem are the frontrunners to play Roland. I'd love either of those actors in that part. I really hope they can actually pull this off somehow.
- More great posters have popped up on Reelizer.
- In a painfully appropriate twist, some Pakistani-produced candy bars called Toxic Waste Nuclear Sludge were recently found to contain more than twice the PPM (parts per million) of lead tolerated by the FDA.
- Hey, that Lord of the Rings/dollar bill mashup T-shirt that was up for vote on Threadless a while back made it through and is now purchasable! (Via)
- Some great pieces from a recent video game-themed art show.
- Science is cruel sometimes. Here's an old video of a couple of guys dropping cats in regular old 1G, then tossing them around in 0G.
- A LEGO version of the trap from Ghostbusters.
- A truly wonderful SNL digital short in which Pee-Wee Herman and Andy Samberg get wasted together.
- Cinematical has a couple of intriguing/amusing pics from Syfy's next opus, Mega Python vs. Gatoroid, which features the talents of both Debbi Gibson and Tiffany, not to mention a giant snake and a giant gator.
- Robert Downey Jr. is going to play everybody's favorite super-smart, talking, time-traveling dog in a DreamWorks animated film version of the Rocky and Bullwinkle short, Peabody and Sherman. How... odd. Seriously, who will even want to see this movie?
- Some cool new pics from Captain America and Thor.

- Guillermo del Toro and Battlestar Galactica executive producer David Eick are joining forces to create a new Hulk TV series for ABC. "Del Toro will redesign the Hulk using prosthetics, puppetry, and CGI." This could be awesome.
- Some fun Charlie and the Chocolate Factory illustrations.
- Dude put his enormous, 1000-pound LEGO collection up on eBay. It can be yours right now for only $20,000! Tempting...
- The rumor that J.K. Rowling might write more Harry Potter books upset actor Daniel Radcliffe, so she called him to reassure him that no future book by her will feature Harry Potter again, so he won't have to play the character anymore.
- Dalek snowman.
- Darren Aronofsky says his Wolverine movie will be called simply The Wolverine, and it won't be a traditional sequel, but more of a "one-off" dealing with Wolverine's time in Japan. Intriguing!
- This lengthy trailer for the upcoming superhero TV show The Cape is fun, if a bit cheesy.
- Super Punch is having another art contest, and I can't wait to see the submissions this time: the task is to "create a movie poster, or concept art, or custom toy, or any other work of art for Stanley Kubrick's Lord of the Rings, starring The Beatles." This was an actual film project at one point! If only it had actually happened.
- An amusing version of the Batman logo.
- Been to Springfield Punx lately? He did all the Mortal Kombat ninjas as Simpsons characters.
- Win some cool Harry Potter prizes just for posting a comment here about your favorite scene from a Harry Potter movie. I have to think about that one...
- Cars is one of the (far too many) Pixar movies I've never gotten around to seeing, but I was still happy to watch the trailer for Cars 2. It looks like this time they're fighting terrorists? Crazy.
- Interesting submissions continue to pour in at the steampunk Batman movie poster art challenge thread on Warren Ellis' message board.
- A series of illustrations of monsters trying to enjoy Cabo. Heh. (Via)
