- Cinematical has some quick news bites: Nathan Fillion will voice Hal Jordan in the animated film Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. Also, there's going to be a How to Train Your Dragon 2 about Hiccup becoming the leader of his Viking clan. Poppy and I watched the original How to Train Your Dragon a little while ago, and although it was very predictable, it was also entertaining and surprisingly moving.
- Heh. This Wicked Witch of the East doorstop is pretty clever.
- Watch a creepy trailer for a movie called Frankenstein's Army, which is set near the end of WWII, and features Hitler using Victor Frankenstein's notes to replenish his dwindling troops in just the way you might expect.
- Speaking of trailers, Cinematical has the trailers for Thor and Captain America running back to back here. The Cap trailer is looking good! I'm excited.
- The other day I posted an unofficial, bootleg sort of video of Galactus in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, so I thought I should follow up with the official video, which is no less terrifying. (Via)

- The latest Comics Alliance link roundup includes a video where Mike Mignola tells stories about his career, and this link listing five made up sci-fi children's books.
- Farel Dalrymple draws Batman, and Dan Hipp draws Inception and the Justice League!
- So J.J. Abrams is doing another TV series about time traveling and a mysterious island starring Jorge Garcia. Sigh. It's called Alcatraz, and Sam Neill just joined the cast.

- In case you somehow missed hearing about this somewhere else, Gawker got itself hacked. If you have a commenting profile on one of its sites, you probably want to go in and change your password.
- A new trailer for Thor is online. It has good bits and bad bits. Most of the bad bits happen when people say things. Which doesn't bode well, as I imagine there will be a good deal of talking in the movie. I'm still hoping it will somehow be an entertaining film, however.
- Gwyneth Paltrow says Pepper Potts will not appear in The Avengers. Can't quite work out whether I'm sad about that or not.
- The Ultimate New Frontier Collector's Set is up for bid on eBay. And hey, Christmas is coming up soon now! Hint hint. (Via)

- Guillermo del Toro and Battlestar Galactica executive producer David Eick are joining forces to create a new Hulk TV series for ABC. "Del Toro will redesign the Hulk using prosthetics, puppetry, and CGI." This could be awesome.
- Some fun Charlie and the Chocolate Factory illustrations.
- Dude put his enormous, 1000-pound LEGO collection up on eBay. It can be yours right now for only $20,000! Tempting...
- The rumor that J.K. Rowling might write more Harry Potter books upset actor Daniel Radcliffe, so she called him to reassure him that no future book by her will feature Harry Potter again, so he won't have to play the character anymore.
- Dalek snowman.
- Darren Aronofsky says his Wolverine movie will be called simply The Wolverine, and it won't be a traditional sequel, but more of a "one-off" dealing with Wolverine's time in Japan. Intriguing!
- This lengthy trailer for the upcoming superhero TV show The Cape is fun, if a bit cheesy.
- Super Punch is having another art contest, and I can't wait to see the submissions this time: the task is to "create a movie poster, or concept art, or custom toy, or any other work of art for Stanley Kubrick's Lord of the Rings, starring The Beatles." This was an actual film project at one point! If only it had actually happened.
- An amusing version of the Batman logo.
- Been to Springfield Punx lately? He did all the Mortal Kombat ninjas as Simpsons characters.
- Win some cool Harry Potter prizes just for posting a comment here about your favorite scene from a Harry Potter movie. I have to think about that one...
- Cars is one of the (far too many) Pixar movies I've never gotten around to seeing, but I was still happy to watch the trailer for Cars 2. It looks like this time they're fighting terrorists? Crazy.

By the way, beware clicking through to io9 today. They have a really evil ad for the video game Fairytale Fights on the site that repeatedly opens a pop-up window, whether you have a pop-up blocker on or not. To stop the ad, right-click it, and uncheck "Play." I was actually vaguely interested in Fairytale Fights, but now I hate it on principle.
- It is perhaps childish, but I found the above altered clip from Star Wars to be absolutely hilarious. (Via)

- The crazy doubled-up Dollhouse schedule for December. I'm glad they're taking into account the fact that I'll be busy writing a novel in November and are simply not airing any episodes that month.
- Rob Zombie's Where the Wild Things Are. Yep, pretty much.
- Yet another casting rumor for Fury Road, the next Mad Max film: Sam Worthington.
- Baby wombat in a box!
- A video collecting all Windows start up and shut down noises from 3.1 to Vista.
- Dinosaur arm shirts! A related, and extremely important, scientific question is answered: no, a human could not beat a T. Rex in arm wrestling.
- Two German scientists say they've broken the speed of light by sending microwave photons instantaneously between a pair of prisms via a phenomenon called quantum tunneling, "which allows sub-atomic particles to break apparently unbreakable laws." I don't understand even one small part of that, but it sounds awesome.
- Video of an experiment demonstrating the principle behind superconducting trains. Cool!
- 13 kick-ass moments from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Some good picks, although I have to disagree with "Spike goes soul-searching" (I hated that Joss played the "vampire-with-a-soul" card a second time), "Buffy the Turok-Han Slayer" (one of the low points of the series, in my opinion, as Buffy defeats a vampire she previously could not defeat by... fighting it again. Uh... what?), and the destruction of Sunnydale (pretty much everything in that final episode is crap).
- Harlan Ellison won that lawsuit over that Star Trek episode. But the really important bit of information in this article is that there exists a talking Guardian of Forever Christmas ornament. WANT.
- One cool thing about those Microsoft stores: they "allow shoppers to order a Games for Windows title, leave their name with a customer service representative, then have the game, case, insert and other accouterments printed on the spot in under four minutes."
- Another item somebody could buy me for Christmas: the figurehead from Golden Voyage of Sinbad. C'mon, it's only $20,000! And move quick, because the auction'll be over in a few days. (Via)
