- The ultimate "Spock is not impressed" image. (Definitely check out the Tumblr if you've never seen it.)
- Creepy-cool illustration of Wilbur Whateley.
- Very cool good-bye tribute to Harry Potter in the form of a poster.
- These illustrations make a very pointy point about gender in comic books.
- Hee hee.
- A lovely piece of Hobbit art by the always delightful Mr. Hipp.
- Scientists have found evidence of flowing salt water on Mars! Neat!
- I posted this video to Twitter/Facebook a while back, but it's so wonderful I'm posting it here again: a mariachi band serenades a beluga whale.
- The first official photo of Henry Cavill as Superman, the first official photo of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, and a very unofficial, Game of Thrones-mashed-up 'shop of the Catwoman photo (that was quick).
- This trailer for the upcoming animated series Tron: Uprising features lots of cool concept art, an exciting video clip, and bits of the Tron: Legacy soundtrack in the background - a soundtrack which, I may have already mentioned here, I am obsessed with to the point of mania.
- The new Ultimate Spider-Man is half-black and half-Hispanic. For some people, this poses a problem. Those people are wrong.
- Wondermark is very strange, and I love it.
- Steampunk Samus Aran arm cannon!
- NASA is sending LEGO minifigs representing Jupiter, Juno, and Galileo to Jupiter.
- Game of Thrones as a (NSFW) 8-bit (or is that 16-bit?) RPG.
- John "Walter Bishop" Noble is hosting a new show for the Science Channel investigating true stories of fringe science. It's called Dark Matters.
- Joe Quesada's Twitter feed isn't always all that interesting, but the other day he went through his process for creating a piece of art for the 50th anniversary of the Fantastic Four, and it was really cool. Plus, the piece came out great. Luckily, Comics Alliance collected the entire sequence of tweets.

- These are a bit old now, in internet terms, but here are the latest videos from the Game of Thrones blog.
- I was excited when I read this weekend about a guy supposedly discovering fossils of alien life in an asteroid. But I waited to post the story until I got more details and confirmation. I'm glad I did, because apparently it's bullcrap.
- Awesome Hungarian Star Wars posters.
- In case you missed this when I posted it to Twitter, Dune children's activity books that were created as tie-ins with the David Lynch film. It's hard to believe these are real and not a joke, but apparently they are!
- A couple of great recent entries on Black and WTF: Batman riding an elephant and a sign refuting the possession of a dinosaur.
- A couple of great recent entries on Reelizer: Clue and Dark City.
- Ron Moore's magic detective show is shaping up to be a real Battlestar Galactica reunion. James Callis, Tricia Helfer, and Jamie Bamber have all been cast in the show.
- A production company bought the rights to make more Blade Runner movies, and they want Christopher Nolan to direct. I'm really doubtful that we need more Blade Runner movies, as the original is a classic in and of itself and I don't see how you could add to it. But if we have to have more, Nolan would be a great choice. We'll see if he's interested.
- You've got to love Slinkachu's miniature installations.
- New Super Punch art contest! Make a poster for X-Men: First Class.
- The painful truth about Luke's Dad.
- My new desktop wallpaper. Aww yeah. The kid is getting me back into Sesame Street. He's partial to Elmo, but I think Oscar's my favorite. (Via)
- In case you haven't seen the awesome photo of Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull yet: click here.
- Entertaining trailer for Kung Fu Panda 2. Looking forward to this one.
- Here's our first look at Korra, the star of the new animated series set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's called Avatar: Legend of Korra.
- I know you probably can't even get through reading "steampunk Boba Fett" without yawning at this point, but go ahead and click through anyway. It's pretty cool.

- Guillermo del Toro and Battlestar Galactica executive producer David Eick are joining forces to create a new Hulk TV series for ABC. "Del Toro will redesign the Hulk using prosthetics, puppetry, and CGI." This could be awesome.
- Some fun Charlie and the Chocolate Factory illustrations.
- Dude put his enormous, 1000-pound LEGO collection up on eBay. It can be yours right now for only $20,000! Tempting...
- The rumor that J.K. Rowling might write more Harry Potter books upset actor Daniel Radcliffe, so she called him to reassure him that no future book by her will feature Harry Potter again, so he won't have to play the character anymore.
- Dalek snowman.
- Darren Aronofsky says his Wolverine movie will be called simply The Wolverine, and it won't be a traditional sequel, but more of a "one-off" dealing with Wolverine's time in Japan. Intriguing!
- This lengthy trailer for the upcoming superhero TV show The Cape is fun, if a bit cheesy.
- Super Punch is having another art contest, and I can't wait to see the submissions this time: the task is to "create a movie poster, or concept art, or custom toy, or any other work of art for Stanley Kubrick's Lord of the Rings, starring The Beatles." This was an actual film project at one point! If only it had actually happened.
- An amusing version of the Batman logo.
- Been to Springfield Punx lately? He did all the Mortal Kombat ninjas as Simpsons characters.
- Win some cool Harry Potter prizes just for posting a comment here about your favorite scene from a Harry Potter movie. I have to think about that one...
- Cars is one of the (far too many) Pixar movies I've never gotten around to seeing, but I was still happy to watch the trailer for Cars 2. It looks like this time they're fighting terrorists? Crazy.
- Interesting submissions continue to pour in at the steampunk Batman movie poster art challenge thread on Warren Ellis' message board.
- A series of illustrations of monsters trying to enjoy Cabo. Heh. (Via)

- A cleverly altered movie poster.
- Some interesting suggestions for Disney concepts that deserve reimagining. I remember deeply loving both the book and the original film version of Something Wicked This Way Comes (although I haven't read or seen either in ages), so I'd be both excited about, and leery of, any kind of remake.
- Casting news for Green Lantern: Temuera "Jango Fett" Morrison will play Abin Sur and Taika Waititi will play Hal Jordan's best friend Thomas Kalmaku.
- If you're into this whole steampunk thing (which I sort of am), you'll probably want to check out this gallery of photos from a steampunk exhibition.
- Michel Gondry and Ghost World scribe Daniel Clowes are teaming up for two projects: a time-travel drama starring Ellen Page, and Megalomania, "an animated film about a group of children who harness the power of hair to save the world from an evil dictatorship." Uh... okay. Megalomania features the voice talents of Seth Rogen, Steve Buscemi, and Juliette Lewis. Gondry is apparently a busy guy these days, as he's also writing "The Return of The Ice Kids, a film about a curious form of water that allows you to hear music upon drinking it." He is truly a strange fellow.
- io9 pores over the available Predators info and finds some interesting stuff, including homages to past Predator films hidden in the new footage.
- Fun concept art for a failed Dan Dare TV movie.
- The vocals are imperfect, but otherwise Ted Leo And The Pharmacists' cover of Tears For Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" is pretty fun. Plus, it inspired me to listen to the original, which always fills me with joy.
- I was pretty excited when I heard that Mickey Rourke would play Conan's Dad in the new movie, but now it sounds like that's not to be. Thankfully, his replacement is as good or better: the mighty Ron Perlman!
- LEGO dinosaur skeleton.
- A couple of fun T-shirt designs.
- More amusing Star Wars propaganda posters.
- Pretty cool Batman art.
- Paul Atreides LEGO CubeDude! Nerdtastic!
- A selection of beautiful drawings by Kiersten Essenpreis.
- I don't want to like Adidas' new line of Star Wars sneakers and clothing, but man, some of this stuff is just awesome.
- A positive hands-on report on Metroid: Other M.
- Steven Spielberg is supposedly interested in directing a Drew "Cloverfield" Goddard adaptation of a new book called Robopocalypse, which is about... well, it's really pretty self-explanatory.
- David Fincher is in talks to direct Pawn Sacrifice, a movie about Bobby Fischer's life leading up to the legendary match against Boris Spassky. I've been disappointed by some of Fincher's recent work, and Fischer is just a complete nutcase anymore, but still, this could be interesting.

- An intriguing teaser trailer for a steampunk short film called The Anachronism. (Via Camden)
- io9 presents lovely galleries of some of the toys being presented at the Toy Fair.
- Photos of a replica of the alien queen made out of recycled machine parts.
- I didn't care much about Joe Hill until I read an amazing essay by him in the back of an issue of Criminal. Now I'm looking forward to reading the first five chapters of his new novel, available for free online, as soon as I get a chance. (UPDATE: I finally got around to reading this. It's pretty damn good, in a really twisted and unsettling way. Sort of like Kafka crossed with Stephen King. It's actually so disturbing I'm not sure I want to read anymore, but I'm also curious to see how it ends. Hmm...)
- A concept art blog by a dude who wants to work with Neill Blomkamp. It's called "please look at me neill blomkamp" and there is some pretty impressive art on it. His spelling is poor, but that might be for comedy purposes, I don't know. (Via)
- Dude is doing some 8-bit Dr. Horrible tracks and even putting together an animation showing what a NES Dr. Horrible RPG might have looked like.
- I saw Avatar in IMAX 3D because I wanted to be sure to get the full experience, but apparently I should have waited and seen it in Korea, where they're showing it in 4D, with moving seats, odors, water sprinkles, laser light, and wind.
- If real tattoos aren't good enough for you, how about an augmented reality tattoo that, when viewed using the proper technology, displays a flying dragon!
- Some cool clothing and accessories, including a T-shirt for Marion's bar from Raiders of the Lost Ark which I want really badly, and a Darth Vader track jacket with detachable chestplate and cape. (I got really jealous this morning when I saw a guy on the street wearing a Flash hoodie with a mask on the hood.)
- Totoro cookie! Yep, I'll post pretty much anything I find that's Totoro-related. (Via)
- Cool Alice in Wonderland art. I particularly like the Gryphon.
- The toys for the Last Airbender movie have been unveiled, and they reveal that the film version of Appa has a creepy human face! Why did they do that to Appa?? Why?!?

- Above, please see how to open a bottle of beer with another bottle of beer. I suspect this is harder to do than this guy makes it look (especially for someone like me, who sometimes has a hard time opening a bottle with the device actually designed for opening bottles), but worth a try should the situation arise. (Via Sarah)
- Dude, we're gonna be streaming Netflix movies on our Wii! Hmm, that sounds kind of dirty... (Via Sarah)
- I feel strongly that this sport should have been included in Wii Sports Resort. There could be three players: two to play table tennis, and one to fly the plane!
- One of my favorite art blogs does a piece on Mervyn Peake. I can't understand any of it, of course, because it's in Spanish, but there is a lot of great Peake art included.
- Cool superhero caps.
- Super, the upcoming superhero comedy directed by James Gunn and starring Rainn Wilson, picked up a whole bunch of new cast members, all of whom are unfamiliar to me... except the mighty Nathan Fillion. This movie just got a lot more interesting.
- Yes, this straight-to-DVD Sherlock Holmes movie is probably garbage... but it's steampunk Sherlock Holmes versus a bunch of monsters attacking London! And the monsters seem to include a T. Rex, a dragon, and a giant squid! That's hot.
- Peter Sarsgaard is in talks to play psychic, meteor-powered supervillain Hector Hammond in Green Lantern. Also, the Spider-Man musical is back on, with financing in place and a start date of this fall.
- Photos of some really cool custom nesting dolls.
- Hooray for amigurumi Metroid! It looks very cute while it's sucking the life out of you. (Via)
- The folks at Underwire put together a pretty excellent list of movies they'd like to see get a 3D upgrade, including some unexpected but clever choices.
- Google has learned some unsettling things about Chinese cyber attacks and is considering pulling out of the country entirely. Wow! That is pretty huge, man. (Via)

- Above is a really amazing and wonderful video wherein David Lynch explains how he was offered the job of directing Return of the Jedi, and how he decided (almost immediately!) that he really, really, really didn't want to do it. I understand his feelings, but man, can you imagine how incredible and weird Return of the Jedi would have been if David Lynch had directed it?? (Via)
- James Cameron's next movie? How about... another sci-fi epic! This one would be in the vein of The Seven Samurai. Huh.
- If you haven't heard yet, DC Comics is bringing Bruce Wayne back by saying he wasn't dead, just lost in time. He'll be a caveman and a pirate, and Grant Morrison will write it. Sounds pretty silly, and also sort of a rip-off of how Brubaker is bringing Captain America back (is everybody going to get lost in time now?). But... Grant Morrison is writing it. And it's Batman. So... I'm there.
- A poster and a cool image from Tron Legacy. I'm so ready for this movie.
- A wonderful photo gallery of vintage collectible glasses. Really brings back the memories. I definitely used to have one or two of these. And now I desire to... collect them all!!
- Pretty hilarious screen-grab of an instant message chat using a video game metaphor to explain love.
- Sci Fi Wire picks the 18 best bladed weapons from sci-fi movies and TV. I can't resist a good bladed weapon, so I had to link this, even though it mentions the dreaded Transformers film.
- Check out the trailer for the upcoming video game, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4. I'd play that.
- Street artists in Germany are spiffing up billboards by adding graphics from the game Doom to them. Check out the photo set. (Via)
- Photos of a few very cool custom motorcycles, including a Predator bike.
- You could have Mr. T as a bear on your shirt.
- Fantastic Garbage Pail Kids art. I used to love those cards.
- A collection of really excellent illustrations by Paul Maybury, including an Aliens fan comic. (Via)
- The steampunk Legion of Doom. Very nice.
- Jack Kirby does Star Wars!! It is almost too much awesome to be contained on just one internet. (Via)
