by Fëanor |
Hey, remember that Cafepress store I used to have? Well, I still have it! My brother realized this, and sent me a T-shirt design, so I put it up! That's right, a new product! Amazing. Here it is. You could buy it, if you wanted. I'm just saying.
(Btw, one of my old T-shirt designs had to die so that this one might live. But seeing as how only one person ever bought it, and that person was my Dad, I don't think anyone will miss it.)
UPDATE: Yeah, so, never mind! Turns out CafePress did not like that design. Fair enough, I suppose. |

- I think I might have to take part in #ThePact. So if you see a picture of me eating a donut in my Twitter stream tomorrow, that's what that's about. (UPDATE: Here you go.)
- This unlimited movie pass, which allows you to see as many movies in the theater as you like for $50 a month, is a great concept, and I think I probably would have been all over it in my free-wheeling, movie-obsessed, bachelor days.
- Jesus Christ. There are actually six (6!) different versions of Frankenstein in development in Hollywood right now. Thanks a lot, Twilight.
- Also, they are still trying to get that He-Man movie made, apparently. I love He-Man and all, but I just don't see that turning out well.
- A collection of negative and positive quotes from critics about Transformers 3. You would have to pay me a very large sum of money to see this movie.
- I do enjoy a good Super Punch image roundup.
- A trailer and a gameplay video for a new Phineas and Ferb video game, subtitled Across the Second Dimension. There's a movie of the same title that'll be airing on the Disney channel soon. Exciting!
- If you hadn't heard yet, World of Warcraft is now free to play until level 20. Tempting! But even when I do get the time these days, I tend to avoid playing video games and work on making one, instead. So I think I'll still be staying away from WoW for the foreseeable future.
- I am intrigued by Google+! I'll just wait here for my invite. Doo dee doo dee doo... Anybody? (UPDATE: I'm on! Thanks, Amy!)
- I've always been a big fan of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, as well as Francis Ford Coppola's Vietnam War film adaptation, Apocalypse Now, so I'm kind of excited that there's going to be a sci-fi film adaptation called Into Darkness, even if the people involved aren't exactly top notch talent.

- Above is a pretty funny Matrix/Big Lebowski mashup. Makes me want to watch both movies again. (Via)
- Four more preview pics from Fringe's third season, via the show's official Facebook page.
- The other day I mentioned that I strongly suspected Caprica was not coming back for the second half of its first season (who started this stupid tradition of splitting up seasons into halves, anyway?), but happily I was wrong. In fact, it's coming back early, on October 5th at 10PM. Follow the link for a preview. Looks like we're going back to Grand Theft Auto: Caprica City, and now there are droogs there! (UPDATE: I was a little confused here. Although the second half of the first season is airing early, Syfy has still not announced a decision on the second season, and apparently may not do so until November. So Caprica still might be dead in the water.)
- The Onion A.V. Club reviews the pilot episode of the new Nikita. They say there's a lot of exposition, which I hate, but other than that it sounds like it might be okay.
- Hey, there's a website where you can order sacks of just cereal marshmallows! Finally you can have your marshmallow fix without all those annoying oat bits getting in the way! (To be honest, the thought of eating straight cereal marshmallows without some plain oats to cut the sweetness is disgusting to me, but I still find this fascinating.) (Via)
- Blastr has a fun list of 10 of the best sci-fi TV episodes ever aired. Some pretty good selections here, especially "Hush," "City on the Edge of Forever," and "33," all probably my favorite episodes of the respective series. In fact, "33" hooked me on Battlestar Galactica right away and for good. It's probably the best first episode of a series ever. I might have picked different episodes of The Outer Limits ("Keeper of the Purple Twilight?" "The Children of Spider County?"), Firefly (what about "Jaynestown," man?), and Star Trek: The Next Generation (the one with the flute!), but the ones they chose are mighty good. I think "Home" is the only episode of The X-Files I've never seen, which really pisses me off, because everybody says it's so good. I really should track it down one of these days. As for "The Eye of the Beholder"... I don't know, I've just never been a Twilight Zone guy. My reaction to that episode was pretty much just, "Ah. Yes. I see what you did there."
- This stairway-become-waterfall is beautiful and horrifying and funny and terrible. (Via)
- Fun illustrations of Masters of the Universe villains.
- The Tron hoodies from Threadless are back in stock! Now, who wants to lend me the money to buy one?
- Martin Scorsese's 15 favorite gangster movies. I'm sad to say I've only seen a handful of these, but I definitely agree with him on White Heat, Point Blank, and Night and the City. (Via)
- An update on Terrence Malick's latest, Tree of Life. Sounds like it might be done by next year, if we're lucky.
- Doctor Strange could be an animated film - made by Pixar?! YES. DO THIS.
- These faux-vintage Star Wars figures are mighty tempting.
- Pretty cool interactive map of Middle Earth. A small complaint: the font, while appropriate, is a bit hard to read. Still, impressive. (Via)
UPDATE:
- To paraphrase Cinematical's description, Passion Play is a movie about a down-on-his-luck trumpet player (Mickey Rourke) who seeks redemption from an angel (Megan Fox) who's being paraded around like a circus freak by a local gangster named Happy Shannon (Bill Murray). Woah. Interesting story and an interesting cast. Click through to top it off with an interesting clip.

- They're going to make a horror movie about an evil Paul Bunyan called... Bunyan. It will star Joe Estevez of Werewolf fame (yes, the MST3K movie), and it will come out next year. Amazing.
- io9 has collected the early reviews for Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan. Some are criticizing the movie for its backward ways, but others are praising it. Hmm...
- Terry Gilliam might convert Time Bandits to 3D. He wouldn't be changing anything in the film, just putting it in 3D. I'd watch that!
- Apparently Sam Prekop of The Sea and Cake has a new album! I was excited about this, until I read the Onion A.V. Club's review, and found out it's basically just a lot of random noise. Not sure I really need to hear that.
- The Onion A.V. Club also has an interesting review of Metroid: Other M. The fact that it's sort of on rails is actually attractive to me, as I don't really have time for a game that makes me do a lot of wandering and exploring, but a lot of the other things they mention here don't sound very fun. Still, I'm intrigued. I mean, it's Metroid!
- Apparently they really are going to make a Doctor Strange movie and Stan Lee is going to have a cameo in it. Cool!
- The new (3D, natch) Judge Dredd film will be called simply Dredd and will star Karl Urban as the title character and Olivia Thirlby as his psychic partner.
- Ridley Scott has a few fascinating details about his Alien prequel. Also, Gemma Arterton may star.
- Dude built an impressive working replica of the motorcycle in Excitebike.
- Pizza soda and bacon soda? I'd try 'em.
- Pretty great 8-bit track with appropriate 8-bit video accompaniment.
- A pic from Duncan Jones' Source Code! It's not particularly enlightening or thrilling, but it's a pic from the film, nonetheless.
- LEGO TARDIS! Very nice. I feel like the claim that it's functional is probably an exaggeration, though.
- Masters of the Universe as a medieval religious icon.
- Love the Metroid print.
- Wizard Alley.
- Angelina Jolie leaving Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity almost killed the movie, but supposedly Natalie Portman might save the day by taking over for her.
- An interesting preview of Epic Mickey.
- D'oh. Sounds like Terry Gilliam's Don Quixote movie is dead in the water again, due to the financing falling through.
- Official sonic screwdriver Wii Remote??!!? Give to me! Now!

- Some clips from, and about, The Cape, NBC's upcoming superhero drama. Looks a bit corny, but also intriguing.
- Alec Baldwin tries to sell you the Timecrowave, a rather dangerous time-warping kitchen appliance.
- Disney has hired David Fincher to direct their new take on 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. What? David Fincher?? Really?! In nearly as odd movie news, they've got Charlie Kaufman polishing the script for the next Kung Fu Panda movie, which is subtitled The Kaboom of Doom.
- Tom Felton, the actor who plays Draco Malfoy, talks about how they filmed the epilogue scenes for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
- Sexy renditions of the Disney ladies. Good lord.
- Video of a tiny cannon being fired at various targets.
- Super Punch highlights some hilariously inappropriate Golden Books by Josh Cooley, who happens to be a story artist for Pixar. Check out the rest of his blog; it's pretty great.
- Wonderful Alice in Wonderland-inspired image. (Via)
- Amusing He-Man T-shirt design.
- Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play the same character, but in different time periods, in Rian Johnson's upcoming film Looper. Awesome!
- Samuel L. Jackson says there's going to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, but Cinematical warns he may just be confused.
