- You can buy actual versions of fake products from the virtual world of NCIS. The farting hippo is great, but outrageously expensive. What's really tempting is the Caf-Pow. (Via poppy)
- Craig Ferguson, the robot Geoff Petersen, Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman, puppets, and friends perform Modern English's "I Melt With You." Utterly ridiculous.
- Looks like we finally know why the honeybees are all dying off. So I guess sci-fi shows have to stop making up crazy reasons for that.
- Pride And Prejudice And Zombies just lost its director and its star, and Gravity is also without its main actress again. Poor movies.
- Looks like a pretty clever coffee cup holder.
- Firefly reunion on the set of Chuck! Aww. *sniff*
- Hilarious video imagines what it must be like to be Nicolas Cage's agent.
- A new, longer trailer for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Wow! Apparently I don't remember that book at all.
- A schoolgirl wrote a letter to Johnny Depp asking for help with a mutiny, and he showed up at her school in full Jack Sparrow regalia. Pretty awesome.
- Need a quick, cheap Halloween costume? Super Punch is hooking you up with links to a ton of downloadable masks.
- Great Star Wars/Calvin and Hobbes mashup T-shirt. Speaking of Star Wars, here's the "Imperial Minigolf Final Exam."
- On November 11th, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., Nintendo will release a limited-edition Mario-red version of its Wii console in Japan. It will include an exclusive version of the game with altered graphics. Nintendo doesn't seem to have revealed what all the alterations will be, but click through for a screenshot featuring item blocks with the number 25 written on them.
- The title kind of says it all, but nevertheless, here is the (NSFW) trailer for Nude Nuns with Big Guns.
- Dude, this is amazing news: a new supergroup called Wild Flag has come to life, comprised of Mary Timony of Helium, Rebecca Cole of The Minders, and - most importantly as far as I'm concerned - Janet Weiss and Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney!! Sleater-Kinney is sort of back! Wild Flag's Facebook page is here. Woo hoo!
- Audio from a 1950s educational film strip about how to go out on a date is mashed up with footage from Star Wars in this brilliant and hilarious video.
- Velma's back - and she wants revenge!!
- Wow. I thought Secretariat looked like it might be an okay, if cliched, inspirational sports drama, but it sounds awful.

- They're going to make a horror movie about an evil Paul Bunyan called... Bunyan. It will star Joe Estevez of Werewolf fame (yes, the MST3K movie), and it will come out next year. Amazing.
- io9 has collected the early reviews for Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan. Some are criticizing the movie for its backward ways, but others are praising it. Hmm...
- Terry Gilliam might convert Time Bandits to 3D. He wouldn't be changing anything in the film, just putting it in 3D. I'd watch that!
- Apparently Sam Prekop of The Sea and Cake has a new album! I was excited about this, until I read the Onion A.V. Club's review, and found out it's basically just a lot of random noise. Not sure I really need to hear that.
- The Onion A.V. Club also has an interesting review of Metroid: Other M. The fact that it's sort of on rails is actually attractive to me, as I don't really have time for a game that makes me do a lot of wandering and exploring, but a lot of the other things they mention here don't sound very fun. Still, I'm intrigued. I mean, it's Metroid!
- Apparently they really are going to make a Doctor Strange movie and Stan Lee is going to have a cameo in it. Cool!
- The new (3D, natch) Judge Dredd film will be called simply Dredd and will star Karl Urban as the title character and Olivia Thirlby as his psychic partner.
- Ridley Scott has a few fascinating details about his Alien prequel. Also, Gemma Arterton may star.
- Dude built an impressive working replica of the motorcycle in Excitebike.
- Pizza soda and bacon soda? I'd try 'em.
- Pretty great 8-bit track with appropriate 8-bit video accompaniment.
- A pic from Duncan Jones' Source Code! It's not particularly enlightening or thrilling, but it's a pic from the film, nonetheless.
- LEGO TARDIS! Very nice. I feel like the claim that it's functional is probably an exaggeration, though.
- Masters of the Universe as a medieval religious icon.
- Love the Metroid print.
- Wizard Alley.
- Angelina Jolie leaving Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity almost killed the movie, but supposedly Natalie Portman might save the day by taking over for her.
- An interesting preview of Epic Mickey.
- D'oh. Sounds like Terry Gilliam's Don Quixote movie is dead in the water again, due to the financing falling through.
- Official sonic screwdriver Wii Remote??!!? Give to me! Now!

- io9 interviews M. Night Shyamalan about The Last Airbender. He admits balancing the humor with the edginess was hard. He says his kids forced him to put Momo in the movie, but that he also had no choice but to cut a lot of other things, including the cabbage salesman (sadness!). He's determined to do three movies. It sounds like in one of those later films he might actually reveal what happens to Zuko's mom, which was one of the few loose ends left untied in the series. He also talks about Miyazaki being a huge influence, which is encouraging. I remain cautiously optimistic about these movies.
- Christopher Walken as M.O.D.O.K.
- A milk jug that knows when the milk has gone bad.
- Stephen Dorff has joined the cast of War of the Gods as Stavros, "a master thief who joins Theseus on his quest to help free Greece from the dark threat of the Titans."
- You've gotta love the fake company websites they make for big movies these days. Check out the site for Stark Expo 2010 (for Iron Man 2, via), and the site for Encom International (for Tron Legacy).
- The first trailer for Metroid: Other M focused on the story and the melodrama, and it sucked; this new trailer focuses on the action and the gameplay and it's much, much better. In fact, this game looks awesome.
- I love this Disney/Magritte mashup T-shirt.
- Lots of impressive work from the Society of Illustrators 2010 Student Scholarship competition.
- A fan made a brilliant, thrilling, action-packed trailer for the original Tron.
- Speaking of fan-made trailers, here's one for an imaginary Battlestar Galactica spin-off called The Twelve Colonies, set during the first big war with the Cylons.
- I hate umbrellas, but even I might go out of my way to purchase one if it had a broadsword handle.
- Sony BMG took down Beyonce's official YouTube channel for copyright infringement. Hahahahahaha!

- Above is a fun techno remix of the Iron Man 2 trailers. (Via)
- Hey, remember Beck's Record Club? Yeah, I'd forgotten about it myself. This is that thing where Beck gets a bunch of musicians together and covers an entire album in a day. Each song is done with no rehearsing or arrangement and often in just one take. Then videos for every song are posted online. Looks like he's done three albums so far; the one I was interested in was The Velvet Underground record. (Via)
- Awesome story about the unorthodox method used to collect a large beetle specimen. (Via)
- Heh. Check out this trailer for the vampire comedy Suck. It's about a struggling band who discover that vampirism is their ticket to stardom, but then decide it may be too high a price to pay. It stars Alice Cooper, Malcolm McDowell, Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins, and Moby. Looks like it could be fun. (Via)
- Warner Bros. is looking at fast-tracking one of two Wizard of Oz remake projects. The first has Todd MacFarlane attached as a producer, a script by A History of Violence scribe Josh Olson, and a plot that features Dorothy's granddaughter travelling to Oz to fight evil. I've thought about that and I've decided the proper response is "ugh." The other is called Oz and there are fewer details on that project, except that the writer worked on Shrek Forever After.
- Nic Cage as Guernica. Wow.
- Watch Godzilla movies for free on Crackle! (Via)
- If you hadn't heard yet, Patton Oswalt is writing a Firefly one-shot comic about Wash. It should hit shelves on June 2nd.
- Here's a car that runs on coffee. Dunkin Donuts should really sponsor this thing. I mean, it literally runs on Dunkin!
- Disney has cleverly turned its monorails into Tron light cycles.
- An interesting talk with Christopher Nolan about the third Batman and the new Superman. He provides very few plot details, but it's still fascinating to see where he's coming from and the process he uses. I'm both intrigued and frustrated by his insistence that Batman and Superman exist in their own worlds separate from any other heroes. I see where he's coming from, but... those characters have interacted almost from the beginning in the comics. And how awesome would it be to see them team up in a big-budget movie?? Answer: so awesome.
- Weird details from Jesse Ventura about a film shoot he participated in with Arianna Huffington and the Wachowskis (who are really not brothers anymore, as one of them is now a woman, and people need to stop calling them that).
- Horrifying! Real personalized ads, like those in Minority Report, are on the way. On the one hand, it might be nice to see only ads for products that are actually likely to interest you. But on the other hand... ew.
- A gallery of fun video game-inspired art.
- The final part of The Chronicles of Solomon Stone #2 is now live. Why? Because shut up, that's why.

Hulk confused by beer commercials that emphasize how cold beer is, and brag about fancy cans and bottles that change colors when beer is cold. Hulk can make beer cold by putting beer in refrigerator. Hulk can tell beer is cold by touching bottle. Do puny humans not have these powers?? |

- Above, please find animation from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon combined with audio from The Big Lebowski. Pretty funny; needless to say, the audio is NSFW. (Via)
- 10 books that should be banned. I've only read one of these, but as far as that one goes, I agree! (Via)
- Cool sculptures.
- A trailer for what should be a pretty interesting documentary - Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown.
- 6 important life lessons learned from The Twilight Zone.
- One or more episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation are recut into a pretty brutal, but also pretty funny, Wesley Crusher hatefest.
- Looks like MGM has been given some time to work out its money problems, which hopefully means the studio will be able to finish making the Hobbit movies.
- Sci Fi Wire lists its 9 favorite crazy zombie kills of all time, and Underwire rates the zombie-killing weapons in Zombieland.
- Eric Powell and his girlfriend, and real roller girl, Ramb0 Samb0 review Whip It. (Via)
- Awesome Bossk collectibles. (Via)
- A preview of five pages from Ghost Riders: Heaven's on Fire #3. (Via)
- Wireless brain implants could mean a big upgrade in the control of prosthetic robotic limbs. (Via)
- Aww, cute little felt Admiral Ackbar. (Via)
- A couple of photos from the set of Clash of the Titans featuring Liam Neeson as Zeus. Cool! Looks like they're sticking with the metaphor of the Gods controlling humans by moving around figures on a game board. (Via)
- Random photo! (Via)
- Monty Python's Flying Circus is turning 40! In honor of this prestigious occasion, the Mirror picks the top ten sketches. Excellent selections! (Via)
- Some surgeons are using laser eye treatments to tailor people's eyes to their careers; for instance, they can give special forces members and fighter pilots the ability to see a thousand meters in the dark. Crazy!
- A poor video quality trailer for yet another upcoming Doctor Who spin-off: K-9. Yes, this time the Doctor's robot dog is getting his own series. Unfortunately, it looks like they're aiming it at kids, so it's pretty cheesy.
- io9 takes a look back at Wednesday Comics. I agree with a lot of this analysis - except I wasn't as much a fan of the Superman and Supergirl strips, and I was a huge fan of Strange Adventures.
- io9 picks 10 more toys for Hollywood to co-opt. I remember almost all of these toy lines with great fondness. Sectaurs! M.A.S.K.! Good stuff. In a similar vein, relive 10 forgotten cartoon heroes of the '60s! I love The Herculoids.
- Star Olivia Wilde talks about her experience filming Tron: Legacy.
- Another book trailer, this one for a coffee table book which tells an alternate history involving a robot named Boilerplate. It's quite clever, and oddly moving.
- A few fleeting hints about the plot for Ghost Rider 2.
- NBC is developing a new show called Midnighters, based on a series of novels "about characters able to access a superpowered 25th hour called the 'Blue Time' each day as a result from being born on the stroke of midnight." Interesting...
- More crazy anti-aging science: researchers may have found a way to activate muscle regeneration and restore tissue health.
- Stellan Skarsgard has joined the cast of Thor in an unspecified role. Excellent! Love that guy.
- Here's a handy bra that turns into a pair of gas masks.
- Did I post this before? I don't know, but it's awesome: dinosaur-skeleton-shaped ice cube trays!
- Impressive ballpoint pen portrait of Christopher Walken.
- Awesome concept car covered in solar panels which turn constantly to align with the sun.
- Sweet piranha plant scarf.
- Sci Fi Wire has 15 of the spookiest breakfast cereals, 14 great Cthulhu toys, and the 10 scariest Stephen King novels.
- I love this list of theories on what caused the flashforwards in the TV show FlashForward. Especially the last one.
- A video explaining Brütal Legend's multiplayer mode.
- Apparently Nintendo will fix Wii consoles that were bricked by System Update 4.2.
- A collection of cool fan-made movie posters.
- Batman on an elephant.
- I love this trash can mod.
- Heh. Pretty hilarious poster.
- Worst day ever?
- Steampunk R2-D2. (Via)
- Cinematical presents a defense of theater-hopping.
- A review of the new 3D Toy Story double feature. I was kind of excited about this, but maybe it's not worth it.
- Here's a list with an odd theme: the seven scariest movie characters on wheels. I'm linking to it mainly because of the reference to Return to Oz, a movie I have an odd attachment to.
- A review of the Coen brothers' A Serious Man. From the ads, this didn't look like my kind of movie, but I do love the Coen brothers, and this is a very positive review...
- So what's really in coffee, anyway?
- Video of an aircraft shooting a truck with a laser.
- A lamp shade made of bacon strips.
