Not to be all negative or anything, but... |

...here's something else I don't like: the way saving works in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I don't get to play the game very often, and when I do, I usually don't know how long I'm going to have, so I like the fact that you can save wherever you want. But giving you the ability to save wherever you want is pretty meaningless when you don't know where they're actually going to put you when you load the game back up. For instance, if you save it right before the last room in a dungeon, you'll find yourself back at the beginning of the dungeon again when you reload. Um, WTF?! They couldn't take the extra step and have the save file remember what room you were in? How hard could that have been?
I was pretty much aware of this issue in dungeons, so I've been compensating for it by making sure to complete an entire dungeon in one sitting, or at least do some kind of tricky bit where I teleport outside and save it out there, so I can teleport right back where I was when I start next time. But I was unpleasantly surprised when I reloaded the other day, after having last saved in the middle of a series of mini-quests which started up after a short story segment. The game put me all the way back before all of the mini-quests, and even before the story segment!! I'm going to have to watch the whole cut scene again, then do over the one or two mini-quests I actually finished before I can get back to where I actually saved it. IRRITATING.
This particularly sucks because it's otherwise such a great game. But now I feel apprehensive about playing it at all because if I can only play it for 20 minutes, how can I know if it'll even record what I have the time to do? Suck. |
